Went to my bank today. Teller said she has 2 rolls and$2 loose. Add she placed the loosies on the counter I saw 1 '64 and 3 40%ers. You can imagine how excited I was about what the rolls may contain. I brought em home so my wife could be the one to get the score. Sure enough 19 40%ers and 1 more 64. My personal best.

Congratulations BigSilver! That is an amazing score! I felt the exact same way Monday when I got 3 entire rolls of 40%. Amazing feeling. I wish you continued success.

That's great BigSilver! I stopped by one of my usual banks today at lunch asking for half dollars. The teller is the one I most often deal with, and her usual facial expressions and mood give the impression that she is annoyed with me whenever I come in. Today was no exception so I didn't have high hopes. She said all she had was $2 loose, and as she was handing them to me she says "Three of these are silver, see, you can tell by the edges!" They were 2 67's and one 68.

I don't necessarily think she is looking to keep them for herself. I think it's more like "Here comes that guy again who is always asking for coins."

Joe11, I am also treated as if I am an annoyance by some tellers, but we must overcome and continue to ask or we will find NOTHING!
On the bright side, other tellers are relieved when I ask for halves and large dollars because they dislike counting them at the end of their workday.

berto, you are correct...I swear its like some tellers whole demeanor changes when you ask for halves...its like they despise half dollar coins. You walk in and they say, "Hi, how are you, sir? What can I do for you?" and they are smiling and happy and act as if they are your best friend. Then you say, "I'm great how are you? I hope you are having a good day, ma'am Do you happen to have any half dollars today?" Then their entire countenance falls. Their shoulders slump and they almost fall to the floor with sheer exhaustion at the fact that another coin obsessed fool has dared to broach the unmentionable subject which is the United States fifty cent piece. They take a glance at their tray and say, "I don't have any, then they summon the strength to hoarsely grind out the words, "Anybody have any half dollars?" Then the other tellers, who are now equally affected by the plague you have brought upon the entire bank, respond with either, "Noooooooo, I don't" or they simply stay silent and glare and the poor sap, (ME) who foolishly thought a bank might be the place to find U.S. legal tender. If by some chance a teller DOES have any of the hated half dollar devil coins, they summon the strength to snap up the coins and bring them to the teller which you are dealing with (GLARING at you the whole time) Then they slowly move back to their own station, (still glaring letting you know that they would not be sorry if you spontaneously burst into flame on the spot). Your teller then hands you the coins in a manner that clearly communicates that she hopes a tree falls on your car and then completes the transaction, then she forces out a "Have a nice day, sir." with all the sincerity of a soup sandwich. Finally, you slink out of the bank feeling like you must be the worst human being alive.
But as you say berto, it has to be done or we get nothing...it has to be done.

Well, my last four boxes yielded 1-66 and 1-72S Clad Proof, Second week in a row I haven't reached my goal of 10 pieces of silver. I know its out there and its only a matter of time before I find it. It still sad to hear how some of you are being treated by bank tellers. Hope it gets better for you all. I posted a milestone I hit yesterday, I was wondering if anybody else has hit that level? Its exciting to me I never really thought about it when I started doing this. I wish every one finds many pieces of silver, Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Until next week. Keep Stacking!

hhb - Are you sure you haven't been asking at the same banks I am? Your description was spot-on for a good number of my teller interactions! Had me laughing the whole time I was reading it!
