Arby those are awesome numbers. I just started roll hunting last July. My 90 % to 40% ratio finds are no where close to yours! Mine is about 1 90% to ever 10 40%. Arby how have your 90% finds compared to your 40% finds in the last 1-2 years.

Jbuck its still nice having you around. You must have hit some very serious silver back then? My last four boxes for this week all Skunks! Not much else to state about that, Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and look forward to all your post. BigMag7 I believe the numbers are very close to your over the past 2 years. Always more 40%ers than 90%ers. Though I did score over 200 64's one month.

Quote: You must have hit some very serious silver back then? I did. For a long time I only searched CWR while I was dating a teller. She would call me when something promising came in. I would get them, look at them, and return the rejects to her the same day. I did not deal with anyone else at that branch so avoiding my own returns was easy. It was a good system while it lasted.

Quote: OK, what happened? She dump you? When the finds dried up, I dumped her. I kid. We were in our early twenties and neither of us were ready to settle down at the time. She ended up moving away to take another job.

jack jeckel- Interesting finds. Can you clarify for me what struck on quarter stock means and the discrepancy in weight? Are these significant? Thanks!

Quote: Can you clarify for me what struck on quarter stock means and the discrepancy in weight? Half dollars are thicker than quarters. Quarters are thicker than dimes. Blank planchets that the coins will be struck on are punched out of metal stock that is supposed to be the correct thickness for that denomination. If someone loads the wrong thickness sheet of metal into the wrong punch then you get thinner or thicker than intended blank planchets and subsequently coins of the wrong thickness and weight for their denomination. It is harder to find coins struck on thick / overweight planchets than the thinner / underweight coins as the thicker coins would get stuck in vending machines and thrown away.

Wrong sheet thickness. The diameter of those half's are correct, it's the thickness that's wrong. Are these common? As you're searching through a box of half's, is it only the weight that determines this error? Are there other obvious or physical signs besides weight to determine this error when holding the coin in hand?

Quote: No silver but I did find another struck on quarter stock and in the other box was a half that weighs in at 9.5 grams. Excellent!
