Pancake 2 better than none for sure, IMTBM, dude you need to order boxes from your banks, If your banks are getting that many CWR there is a good chance the feds have some very good boxes with lots of silver in them. You scored some awesome amounts of silver for just starting. Good luck with your new hobby and to the CC Family looking forward to your posts and Pictures, We Love pictures here. Okay finely got to my last four boxes for the week, 3 of them skunks, and I pulled 1-66 and 2-69's. Three more numbers to the weekly Haul. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing all your wonderful finds. Thanks everyone!

Great finds arby! Looks like someone dumped a collection... you may want to see if they have any dimes, quarters , large dollars with similar coin wrappers... could be more silver.

I missed out on my biggest potential haul ever.

The people in front of me filled up the machine, and the banker opened it up to change out the bag. I always look at the reject chute and bags when the machine opens.

Looking at the half dollar bag, I saw a white coin facing me. I move in for a closer look, and the top 1.5-2" was nothing but silver halves. I would estimate a good $50 face at least, and a mix of 40 and 90%. Definitely a Megabox (Megabag?).

I tried everything. "Can I switch out coins from my bag for this bag?" "Could you pick some out and do the exchange?" "Could I buy the whole bag?"

The employee said all coins in the machine became property of the US Government. I said that's not accurate, they go to the coin processing facility, and told him the exact location. That flustered him. He said they are very careful about counting and cannot be off. I counteroffered that you can count exactly how many come out, and I will replace them with that many. Hell, I'll put double the amount in the bag! That was also a flustered no. He said he wouldn't lose his job for some coins.

I have other branches of this bank let ME dig through the bag if I want on the honor system, but this guy felt like the FBI would arrest him if he traded coin for coin out of the bag that is simply a counter. It's really frustrating to see all of them there, and know the reason why you can't get at them is an employee who doesn't understand how coin transactions work.

I had to give up because I knew I wouldn't get anywhere; if you use Loomis as a source, you can expect a crapload of halves in the future.

Ouch!

That, to me, is way more frustrating than a skunk box. To see it and not be able to close the deal!

Accords, sorry to hear it. Folks who ignorantly make decisions also frustrate me.

Accordselux, Those individuals in that bank Obviously do not have a clue or they are just lying to you. or possible just bank policy then one must go to the bank manager and request a chat, if that doesn't work go above their head. Here in my town its never been a issue, and there is no reason to be. When the feds/sorting company, loomis or whom ever picks up from the bank, they don't even weigh them until they get to the facility and if the weight is lower then the average they inform the bank and the bank covers their loss. I would go back and get your charm on and try again. Talk to someone in charge if you haven't already.

I have not ordered boxes of anything yet, but was getting ready to order some penny boxes. A few weeks before I wanted to order any I checked with my bank and they told me anything I wanted to order let them know by lunch time Tuesday (their ordering day). The 1st time I go in to order 2 penny boxes (that's right the whole $50...lol) I was told they could not do that. When I asked why they said they were not trying to encourage this behavior. The bank I have an account with for almost 40 years gives me grief when asking for pennies. They will give me between nothing and a full box. Mind you I have asked for 2 boxes at banks where I have no account and they ask me what else they can do. I started stacking up some boxes to go through once I started getting grief from my bank. I have just over 12 boxes to go through right now, so I hopefully wont need to deal with that again for a long while. If I go into a bank asking for halves where they have been nice before I might pick up some more penny boxes to avoid asking my bank...lol.

The reason I don't think I am going to pick up boxes of halves is the ratio of things to keep is so small compared to customer wrapped rolls (potentially). I did find a branch of my bank that has a coin counting machine in the lobby still. Not sure if the machine takes any halves of dollar coins but I tested it with pre-counted coins on Tuesday to make sure it was accurate. This will be my dump bank as long as that machine is there.
