Quote: So after I picked myself up off the floor and then I saw these posts, I'm thinking to myself.....someone got into someone's collection and we got lucky! Yes, I opened that roll first. . Quote: My take from the yesterday's CRH 1-90 %, 2-40%, 2-proofs, 2-NIFC's 1 of which I gave to my brother to put in his Whitman book. My brother found 1-40% 7-NIFC's plus what appears to be a 72d No FG. pic taken with magnifier couldn't see anything readable Very nice!

Got two boxes from my favorite pickup bank, they thank me for getting them and then said anytime I want to order more just let them know! I checked the ends first, there were 3 enders in one box, none in the other. Naturally I worked the box with the enders first, will do the other probably tomorrow. I hit a real score on silver, in fact I got bummed when I opened a roll that didn't have at least one silver! This must be how CRHing in the 70's was! I ended up with 34 40% Kennedys 17 90% Kennedys 1 90% 1943 Walking Liberty! My first Walker found in a box uploaded/Ben Cartwright SASS/20180206_IMG_20180206_205220878.jpg[/

That's excellent Ben! If I had more to invest, I would search half dollar boxes.

I keep finding Kennedy's with sharpie across them, and have heard that some people mark their coins so they know they have seen them before. Why would you do that?
if you are buying boxes you cannot see the mark, in rolls you cannot see the mark unless it is MWR, and even then you don't know if all the coins are marked by you, the odds are they are not.
also even for rolls you have already searched or you personally dumped, I went to my dump bank and asked for halves, they still have my 30 rolls, but there were two other rolls AND they were solid silver all Walkers. I went through the 30 rolls I dumped anyway as I wasn't sure if I had dumped them all, only took a little bit.

Congrats Ben!
As for marking coins, I never did it but the reasoning thay say, is that if you start seeing your marks you need to start dumping further outside your courier's district, or you're just searching your same coin over and over.
That box reminds me of how boxes were when I started back around 2008. I've had a bank manager tell me that in the mid-2000's boxes were filled with 40% but they only pulled the 90%.

I checked where the couriers pickup and there are only two within 50 miles, at least for loomis, the one near me covers all of Rhode Island and SE Mass and Cape Cod, to get to one that "may" be served by the other one I have to go about 20 miles north, to me it is too much work although I may change at some point. I only 2 at most 2 boxes a week and as I have seen there are still silver dumps to be found. Oh and that 20 miles north is up the beltway, what we call 128, and very heavy traffic or into the city of Boston with horrible parking. I would almost rather research some coins than spend the 2-3 hours it would take to get to a dump bank and the cost of gas, but mostly the time and traffic

Hello everyone, its nice to be back in the USA, after taking the whole month of January off. Reading the past blogs I must say 2018 has been a pretty good year for some of you! Ben Cartwright fantastic numbers you have started 18 with. Congrats to everyone who has scored silver this year. Its so wonderful to see silver is still finding its way to everyone. I was having silver withdrawals reading all those great posts. I picked up my first 8 boxes on the 1st of February all skunks, and I picked up 12 more boxes this week. when box 9 was a skunk I didn't think it was going to be such a great start for the year. Box 10 surprised me with silver and broke that skunk streak. Things got better from there. My first 20 boxes to start the new year yielded me 124 pieces of silver. I pulled 51 90%ers, 1-43S Walker, 2- Bennies, 1-59D and 1-63D, also pulled 48-64 which 34 of them are D's, Pulled 73-40%ers, 6-65, 12-66, 30-67, 18-68, and 7-69. Also 3 clad proofs 1-73S, 2-77S. Maybe I should take a month off more often. Way above my goal of 10 pieces of silver a week and I didn't even search the first four weeks of the year. I would state that is a great start to 2018. Just a few rolls with multiple pieces of silver in each roll. I hope 2018 is Wonderful for everyone who puts out the effort to continue this awesome hobby. May you all be blessed with many pieces of silver this year.

Finally! I have what to report!! I ordered a box from a chase bank. When I went to get it, they said they had 2 boxes. Naturally, you know what I did. I opened box 1 and noticed a lot of marked ends. So I put it aside. Box 2 started out with a 40% in roll 1 and another in roll 3. I knew I had a good box. Ended with 14 40%ers and 3 90%ers. One of which was a Benny. The very last roll produced two 40% (included in the count above the 2nd of which was a dirty toned 1970 D! Also a 1985 impaired proof. Box 1 was as expected roll after roll of nothing, until roll 44 produced 1 40%er!

I see you half rolls say Loomis on them, do all Loomis Rolls say Loomis? All the boxes I have gotten from 6 different banks are all yellow writing and yellow rolls with no name I can find on them, I am figuring Garda as one bank I picked up two at said Garda is their supplier
