New to CRH and coin collecting, too. Just curious, as I ordered 2 boxes of halves myself, how do you all turn back in that many half dollars after you've gone through a box?
I see a lot of people posting they go through a few boxes a week. Thats $1000-$2000 each week! Do you just take them back to a different bank? Do you reroll them when you take them back or just put them in a water jug?
Just curious what to expect if I show up at a bank with 2 boxes of half dollars to cash in and how the teller will treat me..

 Jflournoy I believe it safe to say we all wish you well and hope you find lots of silver on your journey in CRH. If you can find a couple bank that has coin machines you can dump that is the best way. Always take your coins to a different bank if you can. Have several banks in line to pickup and several you can dump. Some tellers will dislike what you are doing because they don't like to work for a living. LOL Others will welcome you. Always treat them all with respect and it doesn't hurt to bring them fun snacks to share with other tellers. Best of luck and get ready for long skunk steaks. LOL. "LOVE THE HUNT!"

lol thanks. I get the process for returning change to different banks. I'm more concerned how to return nearly $1000 worth of halves?
Re-roll before you take back or put in a water jug?
Take back all at once, or 3-4 trips?

Jflournoy, I dump 12 boxes a week, four boxes at a time, $2000. I put all my coins in two bags and I dump at only two banks which one of them I purchase from. I live in a small town and I am very lucky to have awesome relationships with all my bank managers and Tellers. IF you do not have banks with coin machines you will have to roll them. It takes lots more time if one has to roll all the coins and specially if you take care taking coins out of the rolls without damaging the paper. If you crack rolls open as I do, then you will have to ask the bank for 50 cent paper rolls to roll your coins. I don't like to spend money or time rerolling coins. Find banks with coin machines if you can. Half dollar bags hold $1000 face value in most coin machines. I would be up front with your bank mangers and tellers and let them know what you plan on doing, how much you would like to dump at a time. My banks do not have any issue with me dumping $2000 a day a couple times a week. Work your charm!

Sweet, thanks for the tips. I think that is the key, just be honest and find a nice manager who will let me dump as much as I want and as often as I want. I'll have to find myself a money bad, as well.

Told you it was time to break out arby and you did it in a BIG way 6000! I can only wish. I hope tomorrow is my turn to
see that silver again
jFlournoy good luck finding some silver, I thinks arby gets most of it. It took me 5 banks to find one that would take my 2 boxes back. I take 500.00 to 4 different branches and its been going good for 2 years. Just have fun!

Congrats on 6000 Arby! 12 boxes a week? Holy cow. My banks would kick me on the curb. (Unfortunately my area has a ton of hunters including some tellers so that doesn't help the situation either.) In my area people get boxes and reroll them, then those open boxes are automatically resealed and shipped out to the nearest bank that asks for them. So I often get resealed, pre-opened boxes. The ones with tell-tale signs they've been opened already etc... taped shut rolls. One big tip I recommend for new hunters, particularly in heavily hunted areas is if you get a 500 dollar box spend 1 roll of halves as part of your daily purchases. So when you return the other $490 this will force them to ship out the box and not recycle the exact same one between banks. Just my Two Cents.  |

Thanks everyone, Tmorge5 I get those boxes too that have been searched and rerolled. The only good thing about that is, that I help one of my banks when someone does that, I purchase them and take them to another bank that has a coin machine and dump them. The Tellers have to haul those around until they sell so I take them off of their hands for them. Lionel90 looks like I am going to increase my boxes next year to 16 a week if I want to reach my next year goal. We will see what happens. Thanks again Ya'll!

Arby- great to see you've found some silver! Those skunk streaks can be tough. I've found 1 40 % in the last 14 boxes  . Hoping for some Christmas silver! |

Picked these up on Tuesday. One of the banks the teller had $4.50 in loose halves. Turned out to be 3 Walkers and 1 40%.  |
