Ordered a box from Wachovia last week, scheduled for pick-up today. When I went to bank they said they had my $500 box and another $10 roll. When the teller brought out the box it was opened and obviously searched. I asked what happened and mentioned that it was obviously searched by someone at the bank because they didn't have the box until today. They said next week they would order an unopened box.

The $10 roll had...1 Franklin, 3 40%'s...NICE!

On another note I searched 2 other boxes from 2 different banks this bank = NO SILVER.

I went to my bank and got the last $100 rolls. Pulled out 1 1969 Half Dollar! Pretty good for my first try :)

Bank only ordered me one box this week, and of course it was a skunk. Counted 2 NIFC's but I don't keep those anymore, got enough as it is.

-- While I was dumping my last batch of halves, I checked the reject counter and actually found something for once! 52 US cents (2 quarters 2 pennies) and 1 canadian quarter, a coin from Quatar, and a 1/2 Franc.

What's good when looking for $1 dollar coins?
Are the 2002-2010 NIFC really rare enough to hold on to? Does anyone know the actual number in circulation? Isn't that theory that something that isn't rare today will not be rare tomorrow hold?

Hey tornandfrayed....I dont know if you read a post of mine about Brinks...I will tell you..I was told by 4 gals that work at Brinks that none of them collect coins there, but they all grab the silver out of the half dollar coins they roll. So I dont even bother getting boxes around here, because I know I will never get any silver coins ever!

SD - As I understand it, Garda is a separate company from Brinks. In my area, Garda has flat boxes, and Brinks has the tall boxes. I also see Brinks trucks and Garda trucks at banks I visit.

Garda used to be the coin carrier I used for halves. Initially, I found good silver. But, my rolls/boxes started being searched before they got to me. Then, that stopped and the silver disappeared. But, I am on the east coast, and I think it is a local phenomenon. Were I in a different area I would try them.

Mr Smith any of the NIFC are worth saving because of the low mintage #s and most shops will sell them at $2+
and dollars I look for SBAs wide rims and 80 and 81s all mints and any Sac that is not 2000 (heck the mint is still selling rolls of them)and there are several error Prez dollars (stinking edge letters)and any MS65+ prez dollar coin

I searched 5 boxes the last two days. Found 6 40%'s. Better than being skunked.
