Lincolncentguy, but those aren't the ones we get in the boxes, right? Those are all machine-rolled.

Sorry I'm tardy, Obla. I just checked this thread. I'll trade it but it's not in perfect proof condition anymore. I mean, you can tell it spent some time in some bags or in circulation. I'd say PF 63 maybe. But it's yours if you want it. You sure you don't want the hot pink one? lol ;)

haha. yeah I don't want the pink one.

it's no prob that it's been circulated. my dad has almost completed his JFK 'circulated edition' set and I'm just trying to help him out a bit. he already has most of the silver proofs from the 90s.

Man, I've only been at this for about 1 month a nd think I've done pretty well (i.e., about 50 various halves). I haven't searched a ton of boxes. Last week I searched 3 and founf nada but do you guys really think the "jig is up"? Perhaps it's more a matter of region and whether we're each exhausting our respective regions supply. Thoughts?

There are too many hunters now, depleting the silver. Lots of the same coin is being searched over and over. I have six boxes on order, and I'm not too anxious to get them. I test the waters every couple months or so. I get enough hand rolled from time to time, and in the less than $1k I've seached in a month, I've found about 25 silver halves.

Does anyone here on the JFK roll hunters thread have any particular recommendations for places to sell junk halves in the greater Boston area? Or anywhere in New England? I know there are a lot of refiners in MA and RI, due to the old jewelry and silver manufacturing base, and I'm wondering if some of them might be an option. Before I start making phone calls I thought I'd ask if anyone could recommend anyone.

i'd recommend not giving them to someone who might melt them down. if you're a roll hunter then you're kind of defeating yourself if you've totally removed the possibility that they'd every get back into circulation.

Thanks ob. Yeah, I hear you. My brother is a collector and he goes crazy at the thought of coins being melted. And I do like to hunt so I'd love to preserve the chance to find them again! I'm looking at the Web site of Boston Bullion. That might work for my needs. They seem to buy and resell in quantities.
