Found a local bank that had $1230 in halves today. I have opened the 23 rolls that were loose and have already found 1 68.

I'm very happy that my streak of bad luck has now been broken. I can only hope that the other 2 boxes yield well as well.

Also had a friend GIVE me a 1963 Bennie yesterday - Just because he knew I hunted for them. pretty nice gift if you ask me....

Been AWesome hunting for me lately. Problem is today I confirmed one of the 1000 $ bags was $100 short! I counted at home and the coin counting machine confirmed it. The bag had the bank name and a number that I assume identifies the branch. It's a local state bank and there is a local branch so I was going to bring the bag and go down there tomorrow and explain what happened and see what they say and do. Anyone have any thoughts or comments? All greatly appreciated. :)

Just wondering how easy it is go get halves from the bank now. I tried 3 times and the banks didn't have any. Thanks for any input!

I would definitely let them know that it happened. However, I wouldn't expect them to credit you the $100. And to be honest, their level of concern will be equivalent to how much $ you have with the bank.

It's easy but most I think have to have their bank directly order them. My credit union orders them from the FED. Another bank I went to wouldn't order them but in the end it was no biggy since they're the same armored car company and would have the same stuff from the same place so I stick with my CU.

I like to see all the stories on here. There are so many situations that come up at banks across the country illustrated that I would otherwise have no way of finding out about. Some are taking great coins out by the dozens, and that shows me there are areas where the good ones are still floating around.

I have been getting 2 boxes per week from 2 different banks for several weeks now, and not finding much. The 2 I got Wednesday were the best ever for me.

Box 1 had a 1954 Franklin and 2 40% Kennedys. I had never found more than 2 coins in a box before.

I opened up the second box and found a 1967 in the first roll. The box was full of NIFC (24 total) and very nice clad halfs, and I imagined someone dumping a collection of above average condition circulated coins. By the end I had another 1967, and 2 1983 coins with the FG missing.

So, while I'm sure it's a laugher to some, 5 good coins in 2 boxes is a result I am grateful to get, and certainly don't expect always.

2 more boxes tomorrow, and I hope for at least one more keeper. Those skunks really keep me glad to see the white stripers when they finally do roll around.
