4 boxes today 6=NIFC 1='64 1=Ecuadorian 50 centavos I try not to use my car to pick up and dump coins. I used to work as a wilderness instructor. Now I live in a city with a lot of banks nearby. When I walk into the bank with a big backpack on, I get some smiles from the tellers and occasional looks of bewilderment.

2 BofA boxes.
No silver, shorted 2 coins.
Looks like I am starting to get a lot of dump. Guess I will sit on the sidelines for a bit.

Russ, that's where I am at right now. I plan on leaving the boxes be until about Sept.-Oct. There is too much yardwork and metal detecting headed my way.
I will still visit the banks for rolls, hopefully the CWR variety!

So are these $500 boxes a lot worse hunting than the bags of $1,000? My bags were just cut off and I was getting decent silver of about 20-30 per bag at the end. I may have a place that can get me the boxes you all get but from what I see you all saying it makes me wonder if it's even worth my time to set it all up....

90percentsilver:
Unless you want to go from bank to bank asking for CWR of halfs, what other option do you have if you can't order bags?
This is what I do every week as a point of info:
I order 8 boxes total each week- 4 from one bank and 4 from a different bank.
They come in every Thurs/ and or Friday.
By late Thurs/ or Friday I'm usually done with half searching for that week.
What I find I find and that's it for that week.
I don't dump at my purchase banks and I don't cause any aggrevation by ordering ridiculous amts of boxes etc. I keep a nice low profile and it works great.
I've been doing this for over 2 years with very few problems.
Good luck with whatever you end up doing!

I have searched 3 boxes this week (1 more to go). 1 silver - but it was a 1970S in AU condition! I have never found one of them before, so while disappointed at the lack of silver, I really like the one I found.
Chuckster - you have very good sustained luck with this. I love doing 8 boxes, but I hate the dumping. My credit union has a coin machine, but it is a pain to lug it all and I feel compelled to dump at multiple branches so as to spread it out. Do you ever roll you coins and return them? If so, how much in the way of rolls do you dump at a time? I had a bank tell me the can send them out when they reach $1000. I have a bank I used to use for ordering but they have a terrible coin company. I might start dumping some at their branches, but I have to roll.

No, I never roll my coins.
I have at least 5 different banks that I can use for dumping and they all have coin counting machines.
Eight boxes is not that bad. I dump 2 boxes back at a time, so I'm only dumping 4 times and it's done for that week.
Anything more than that, at least for me, gets to be a bit too much, but everyone is different, only you know how many you really want to do and still be in your comfort zone etc.
I'm happy with 8 each week and what I find, I find and move onto the following week.

2 boxes:
1 40%
Sort of odd was that both boxes were taped shut (sealed). But when opened, one of them was searched with marks on the rolls and one end folded over. Whats up with this? Is this a case of the the rolling company getting a rolled box and just taping it shut?

Try them, you never know, you might get lucky. On those bags, you bit the hand that fed you. Hey, I tried to warn you.

Well, it's official, change in plans on tomorrow's road trip. We're going to pick up a bag, instead. Got an opportunity to catch it short of full, and we're taking it. Should come to $433 if somebody doesn't come into the bank tomorrow morning before we arrive and dump some more halves into there. Hoping this will turn the slump around.
