yeah it royally sucks that people are taking silver out just to melt it but even if silver crashes its extremely unlikely to get to the point where hunters are going to dump it back into circulation. So the only input is the trickle that comes from stolen collections, unwitting heirs, and the occasional good deed/mistake. I'm still at my first box and I'm not going to go crazy because I have other things to do than roll search all day and piss banks off. Sorta blows that I got into this so late but whatever, I can take up other hobbies and I still got my collection.

Just searched my first roll of halves-it was the only one I could get since BofA was closed and Soverign bank only had 1!
Nothing interesting, however.
Newest:1977-1
Bicentennial: 11
Oldest: 1971
I also found 1972's 1973's
Oh well. I'll try BofA tomorrow

If I am correct isn't 1969 or 1970 was the cut off? My mother has a 1965 halve dollar.

70 and earlier is silver which is the only thing those guys who order 8 boxes a week tend to be interested in since all they have to do is search the rims. The 65 is 40%. I think I heard something about a 90% 65 awhile ago but it might just be an urban myth.

I am one of the folk who hunt halves just to find silver, and I don't see why that would be frowned upon. My coin collections consists of a lot more than just the silver I pull and I don't do it to have it melted down. I disapprove of the melting of any coinage, that's like melting down the holy grail for PM value(assuming it's made of a PM ^_^ ). One day when silver skyrockets to the $100 mark, I am going to be glad I roll searched and grabbed what I did, additionally I am only 21 and I see this a nice way to set aside some sort of assets for my future. If you really want to complete a set, purchase the 64-70 (good luck finding the 70's from roll searching anyway). People who collect LWC's don't expect to find any VDB's or 22's from roll searching. You should however have no difficulty coming across 2002 - present. People buy bags from the mint, cherry pick the high MS's to have slabbed and simply dump the rest, there are plenty of those fish in the sea, I can attest as I have almost 200 of them now. I think its partially because silver searchers like miners can and often do search and pull silver far faster than an 'ordinary' collector can and also have a greater tendency to order excessively. Thus a disproportionate amount of the silver ends up in the hands of miners some of who don't really have any interest in the hobby. Don't get me wrong I can understand the appeal of easy rim searching just like I can understand being cheesed off at someone who cares only about a quick buck. Just some bad apples I guess.

was able to fill and upgrade several holes. A few dates continue to elude me. This first box has spoiled me. Its like my very first roll of halves. 1 1964 and 1 40% and maybe 1 or 2 NIFC. Haven't had that kind of luck since.

Just started roll searching to fill and upgrade album, 2 boxes per week and they are Brinks wrapped. 6 boxes into this I have only found
6 NIFC 1987 2003 2-2005 2008 2010 I am not a silver miner but would like to fill a few silver holes, the last box I opened had 10 rolls completely filled with bicentennial seems odd to me if these are machine sorted and wrapped that they would all be that way. My question does Brinks hand sort and am I wasting my time roll searching Brinks rolls
