Argh...now that silver's back up, nobody has halves anymore. BTW, some jerk wasn't looking and ran me off the road yesterday. This was right after I left a bank.
I got a dented fender, flat tire, and broken mirror. He had the nerve to tell the officer it was my fault! I don't think he believed him. I'll know when I get the report.

IMO that's (the) biggest drawback of CRH. Driving around looking for unfamiliar banks is a bit risky. That 200 dollars you made sweating it out over 3 months is not going to be worth it when you get into the 500 dollar fender bender.

Actually, this happened just half a mile from my house. Besides, his insurance should pay for it all.

Sorry about your car dude, at least you're ok.
The teller was extra nice and said she would save $16 worth of loose halves for me! It's TD Bank, so they don't have halves normally.

I went to all the banks in the next town over today, and got over $100 in rolls. Nothing. One roll was even sliced open, and taped back. Another bank had just had $300 worth dumped by a hunter. I did find some leads, though. One teller said I could dump as many halves as I wanted. He says people snap them up all the time. Another bank even offered to order halves for me! I even hit the local pawn shops. One had silver rounds and a beat-up Morgan for melt. Not bad, but I kept hunting.
Just like last week, I decided to go by one last bank close to home. The teller had $10, and I grabbed them. As soon as I looked at them, I saw something. Sure enough, it was a '64! That's two 90% and four 40% in a week! Better yet, I stopped by another pawn shop and found a Bicentennial silver mint set. UNC 40% Ike, Kennedy, and quarter for $15, sealed! It's amazing they hadn't sold these for melt; the guys really knew nothing about coins...

Question:
Does anyone look for coins with no FG on the reverse? I have now found 6 1983P halfs without the FG.
Are they even worth saving?

Well I got to the bank to pick up my "halves" turns out they were Ikes, nothing good so I spent them at DQ, had a fun time when the cashiers argued over where to put them.

Did 48 rolls from one bank out of box. Found 3-1964 (2d) 7-1967 7-1968 2-1969 9 Proofs (none silver) 1978 1980 1986 1990 1991 1992 1995 1996 2004
Did 16 more rolls from a different bank. (All that was left from box)Found 1-1960 Fraklin 1-1968 1-1969 3 Proofs (none silver) 1985 1990 1993
Great results. I think they had the boxes for a few years. I am addicted to roll searching now.

Quote: Was anyone searching halve rolls 2-3 years ago? I know a dealer who was searching halves in 1969. I was searching rolls in general in the mid-sixties. I'd stand at the bank counter and go through $200 in nickels in an afternoon.

I forgot to report last week. 4 boxes and only found 4 40%'s. All of those came from the 1st box. The last three had zippee. I also searched a box of dimes and a box of pennies. The dimes were a skunk, and the pennies yielded 5 wheats, all common. Not a good week.
This week, I decided to go "all in" so to speak. I ordered 10 boxes... Should be fun no matter what.
