tkachukdude7, thats why I love bags. I find the same patterns with my bags. Most are skunks, but when you do hit the motherlode, you hit it. Never found 400+ from duel bags but I am waiting. Great find and love the gold. I am tempted to trade some of my finds for a few nice gold coins.

When you trade does the dealer omit the premium and discount of do you pay it both ways? Just wondering. I personnally think silver coins are the way to go ubless you have a lot

One thing I am lacking to understand... how much is that gold coin that was traded for 7 90% and 440 40% halves worth? Based on melt value alone those halves were worth over $2300.

Recent roll finds...4 boxes Box 1.... 1 Franklin 1958, 2 90%, 2 40% Box 2.... 1 40% Box 3.... skunk Box 4.... skunk
Though there weren't a lot of silver in them, I did manage to find many MS coins including 2 2010

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Now to address a few questions.
@fistfulladirt You could say that I "paid" $223.50 to the bank for the 447 silver halves. I then traded those 447 halves for the 1904 double eagle. So, I got the double eagle for only $223.50 out of pocket.
@angel2004 & @unholyroller The dealer offered me around $2350 for the silver halves. When I told him I'd like to spend it at the store he said he'd me help me out a little bit if I found something I wanted. When I asked about the double eagle he looked at the grey sheet and said he would sell it for $2400. The dealer agreed that we were close enough and the trade was made. Looking around online it seems like the dealer's $2400 asking price was fair. Certainly not a steal, but a fair price.
@AGCoinHunter I certainly love the bags, as well. The skunk streaks can be particularly nasty, but when you hit a good streak it's totally worth it. I love the feeling you get when you see the glint of silver through the sealed plastic bag. I've even reached the point where I can hear if there's silver while the teller gets the bags out of the vault.

Thanks. I was just curious! I would hope they would have some allowance since really just trading. I hope I am lucky with the box of halves I am supposed to get this week! I'm hhappy with the 2 I've found in most boxes! You really scored!

Congrats on the double eagle then, seems like your dealer pretty much gave you 100% of melt, so unless there was a real standout coin in that bunch you got a great deal :-)

Hey Everyone,
Been lurking around here for a while reading up on everything. Finally decided to sign up. Ordered a box of halves several weeks ago from my local bank, and after waiting patiently I finally got the call they were in. Felt like a kid at Christmas on my ride home. Got into the house and saw they were yellow rolls, which I've heard(true or not) have more silver... I picked up the first roll and Mr. Franklin was staring at me. Eyes grew huge after that. 1949D in the first roll...nothing in the next 2...then things got crazy for the rest of the way. After 50 rolls, strictly looking for silver, have to go back and look for misc. gems...this is what I ended up with...1 1945 Standing, 6 Franklins(2 1949d), 8 64's, and 16 40%. 31 Silver coins in 50 rolls. I had to send pics to several people because no one believed me. I'm still getting goose bumps today when I look over at the stack of silver.
Look forward to posting more often and reading more of everyone's finds. Good luck hunting.

It was over $200 face value of silver. so the 440 40% kennedy's alone had silver value of a little over $2,500.

Wow, that's five times what I've gotten in months of half roll searching. Keep ordering halves from that source until you suck 'em dry!
