wpd7, if they are BU, I would be interested in a roll.
We dump at TD as well. PNC also has counting machines, and they dont require all the bag changes TD does. We dont have to have a minimum balance on our checking at TD. We have like 20 bucks in the checking.
God awful Ogodma stickers covering JFK... wanna talk about a seriously damaged coin.
We did one box yesterday... better than the last 4. We got 5 40% and one 64. Not too bad.

Nice score Chuck!
Boxes for me the past 2 weeks have been brutal. Multiple marked coins by 3 major players in every roll, and not even hope of finding anything cool, let alone silver.
I wish the silver price would take a little tumble again.

Last box of the week today, another skunk. Halves up here in the Midwest are absolutely brutal as of the past couple months. You are lucky to find a 40% out of 5 boxes it seems. I did meet a fellow Hunter last week and we talked for about 20 mins. One thing is for sure, it feels good to not be the only one whos having some crappy luck. I see lots of success on this forum so my hopes are still up but for the most part.

SDcoinguy: I'll probably be hoarding most of this until I see what I find in the next few weeks and then sell some on E-Bay.
As far as sheer amts of Silver I have no idea. I do know I have found probably close to 15 Barber Halfs in the past 2 years + and numerous Walker's & Franklins.
I've never found a Capped Bust Half- I'd probably fall out of my chair if one ever popped out of a roll(LOL!)
It's hit and miss and definitely luck of the draw.
Just to prove this, in the last 5 weeks I had total counts of 4/8/6/8 and then this one at 119. I had some rolls this week that had 7 in one roll and a few weeks ago I did 8 full boxes and found 4! All luck (IMHO)
If I have any personal theory at all, its perserverance.
I just keep doing the same 8 boxes week in and week out and sooner or later I'll hit SILVER that someone dumped into the system!
You just got to be willing to accept the fact that most of time it's going to be low counts.
I just don't let the frustration get to me during bad weeks.
If I can find at least 5 @90% and 10 @40% each week, its a nice profitable week.
Everything above that is gravy!
Good luck to all!
Happy Hunting!!
Chuck.

Chuck I'm very happy because we live in the same state what means from your finds that I can hit a mother load anytime ! Sure I dont search as many as you do but still have a chance if our coins coming from the same coinstream . I did 4 boxes wikly couple of times but the dump makes so hard to the point where I ll just destroy my good relationship with my banks , tellers plus the gas is very expensive nowadays . I want ask you this for a long time ; are you the one who mark the back of the jfk's head ? If not , do you get a lot of halves marked on the back of the head ? I'm just curious to find out if our halves have any connection to figure what are my chances of find a moster box some sunnyday

Ricardocody;
No- I do not mark up any coins and (IMHO), I think it's pretty dumb to so.
So what if you get a coin that you had marked back in your searches.
I just don't see the purpose as far as changing anything!
I've found Silver in rolls that had clad coins marked in all sorts of colors, Red/Black/Blue/Purple etc including some knuckle-heads spelling their name and dating the coins and still found SILVER in the same roll!
Leave the coins alone! (LOL)

Quote: Halves have been slow going for me lately, but I did find a Stone Mountain Commemorative on the roll end of the last roll of a box. I was pretty excited (especially since there isn't any roller damage) Beautiful!

I am sitting at a 7 box SKUNK STREAK. Man this is killer :(
(I found one 40% 7 boxes ago, before that I was on a 5 skunk streak. So one 40% in 12 boxes!)

Had a weird box today. No silver, but there were 17 proof coins which included 3 1987 proofs and a 2001 commemorative coin thing ... It was really weird but we eventually found it in the back of the RedBook. Plus there were about 10 NIFC coins in the box too. Seems like somebody's collection got dumped, since there were also about 15 or 20 bicentennial coins that were toned in really interesting ways. Made the next box (a 64 and a 67) seem kind of boring :)

There are collectors, profit searchers, and pigs. Like metal detectorists who dig up grass and make no effort to replace it, I would hope that no one on this forum cares so little for the hobby that they mark coins because they're too lazy to check them again.

Quote: I've found Silver in rolls that had clad coins marked in all sorts of colors, Red/Black/Blue/Purple etc That may be a little different. In locations like bars with juke boxes and pinball machines, you want an easy way to take care of "the machine ate my quarter" without calling for service. The house has a handful of quarters painted with red nail polish. If someone complains, you give them one to use. When they empty the machine to split the money, the red ones are given back to the bar before counting. Easy, and no bookkeeping needed.
