hey I think I found a gold plated 1998 half dollar, I looked at it under 20x and it's not painted. Is this possible? It's 1998 D mint, eagle on back.

Man, I hope I get a box like that someday. That's more silver than I've found total, all denominations. I get pretty excited if a box of halves has any silver.

Hi everyone.
New here. been reading about CRH halves for a few months and just checked my first 500 box tonight. I have to say I'm more interested in silver than coin book compiling.
Anyway. first box ever
1 1966 40%
Thats it. a bunch of shiny proof etc coins that ill keep because they caught my eye and some were key/rare/unusual dates or conditions. exactly 26.50 in kept coins in non/silver.
I am going to up the ante soon. ordering 4 boxes 2 times a week. Ill try to keep up on posting. It's funny reading page 1 of this thread versus page 541. How quickly the coins disappear as the economy tanks and silver becomes worth hoarding.
I REALLY enjoyed tonight's search. I could easily make this a nightly ritual.

higherself, they plate quarters and halves in chrome, platinum and gold ll the time. They even deface Kennedy by slapping Ogodmas picture on halves. Which they should be hung by their thumbs for doing. akane, great finds. I agree, thats likely a small percentage of the collection. OK, two boxes yesterday, 4 40%. I did some bank surfing today and pulled 21 cwr. 14 of them had nothing but BU 2005 P&Ds. I cherry picked through them and set aside a roll plus some of each. Very nice. The other 7...6 40%! Not a ton, but a high percentage that deserves some dancing fruit.

Box 6 and 7 yesterday. Two banks. Skunked both.
4 CWR today. 2-2008s Gem proofs. Couple hole fillers.

Finally.... After close to $10k in boxed skunks, I hit a good one. 25 out of the 50 rolls had something.
The tally is: 33 - 40% 7 - 90% including one '63 Frankie
MY first box hauls and I am glad it was a good one!

90percenters...you looked through 11 boxes and found 2-1967's? That really sounds like a waste of time...just go to the coin shop and buy some Kennedys.
