Only a coin collector could wax ecstatic over paying fifty cents for a piece of scrap metal from a junk watch.

After my very first box last week where I found 17 40%ers and a Statue of Liberty half I was really upset that I only got a pair of 2002's, a 2007, and a 2011 NIFC.

At least I can use those to fill the holes in my Dansco.

I guess it is better to have love and found silver and get upset when there is no more, than to never have found love or silver (or however that ancient proverb goes)

So I spend my sat morning driving around rural banks looking for valuable halfs. After 11 banks and 4 hours later I walked into a Bank of America. They had the same response as most of the other initially: "We only have what the tellers have in their trays; we do not have any in the vault. The teller did ask the other teller if she had any and the other teller replied she had $9 worth. Reluctantly I bought them. I will never overlook loose half dollars again. 15 of the 18 halfs were 40% silver. Great morning!

Chuckster, I was unaware the 69S had a DDR. Thanks for the heads up.

She did 2 more boxes yesterday. Complete skunks. NOTHING worth a darn. Cant complain though. Not after the streak we have had.

Boomer, trust me, it took me a few years to get her around to the hobby. But once I did, she was all in.

Picked up four more boxes of halves on Friday and was surprised to continue my luck from earlier in the week. All in all - 42 keepers - 41 silver and a 1987 P! Here's the breakdown:

Box1 - 4 40%, 1 90% JFK
Box2 - 25 40%
Box3 - 7 40%, 1 1987 P
Box4 - 3 40%, 1 1963 Franklin

I am looking forward to more boxes in the upcoming week, but enjoying the search as I go. Finds like these remind me of years past and also of just how much fun this hobby can be. Happy searching to all!
