JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters: Silver, Proofs And Other Finds

WOW! , awesome finds, guys,
I usually do not buy boxes at all, because I do not have a vehicle (I take the bus) and I never had $500 in hand before. Usually, after school I would visit up to 10 random banks that I see, requesting a rather small sample from each bank (a roll of $10).
From doing this, I average around 1 90%er + 2-3 40%ners, I've only found 2 1964s in the many weeks I've been doing this, the majority has been Franklins :). It's carries a whole lot of other advantages too including giving me adequate exercise besides exercising my mind the whole day as a college student.
The key to success in finding silver half dollars involves choosing the banks that yields the most and not going out buying tremendous quantities of boxes.
Customer Wrapped Rolls is certainly the way to go!
Well, machine rolls are cool too, I stopped by a Well Fargos Corporate Branch Bank and picked up a single roll one time and saw a pretty 1967 on the edge.

I must correct myself, Chuckster. It was SilverCoinPicker on page 540 that found all those silvers. I must have mistaken him for you because you seem to find the second most silver out of anybody here.

Therefore, I must call you the son of God, or rather Jesus. Either way, you still find more in one batch than most of us find in a five month period of searching.

Anyway today I went to a SunTrust bank today to look for half dollars. The teller said she only had one customer roll. I also asked for $20 in nickels, and while she went to get those, I found 1 40% 1965 P half dollar!

As for the nickels, there were no silver or Buffalos, but a few nice pre 1959's.

Later I went to a Capital One and the teller said he had no rolls of halves. I asked is it possible that any of the other tellers have some halves and he asked one girl who said she had $2.50 (5) of them. Good thing I asked to double check because 3 of the 5 were 40% silver! (1968D x2, 1969P)

Later I got $120 in rolls at Bank of America and found nothing. Don't you guys think it's ironic that 2 out of the 3 times I've scored silver in halves was due to looking in only one roll (yesterday the teller had one roll and it had 7 40%), yet I buy $120 in halves and find nothing?

I had stopped getting my 2 weekly boxes a few weeks ago; just giving it a rest for a while. Twice a year we go visit my in laws and I have a few banks I stop at along the way. One in particular, rolls there own halves as they get them, in the same manner as the Fed. They had 44 rolls but wanted to save a few for other customers and gave me 25. Upon opening them, I was sure Santa had come early.

Most banks order coin and currency shipments once per week. It will depend on when you order the coin in relation to their order/shipment days

Awesome Barber finds. I didn't know that you could still find them in rolls. I'm guessing they aren't usually junk silver, or are they?
