JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters: Silver, Proofs And Other Finds

Check out the incredible original mint luster on this early die state KHD..76-D....minted so fresh on the dies, proof-like luster on head, and field by nose and eyes, above WE TRUST..form almost a halo of sheen..reverse has the luster on, and near the bldg...most high areas I think may grade as a true "PL" KHD...NOTHING gets my blood boiling like early die state coinage...just the beginning of microscopic die flow lines can be seen with the loupe...I got 20 KHD's at the bank today, and found this beauty, and 5 76-D I am sending in for RPM attribution, and, a monster die-polish or abraded E in LIBERTY that is very chopped off..best "Chopped E" to date...must have been a monster clash on there which was polished away(you can see light outlines of HALF DOLLAR here and there, clashed from reverse to obverse), leaving very chopped E & R...if you are lucky enough to own one of the Special Editions of the New Ike Book(the Special Editions were limited to the 1st 100 copies, and, has ended at I believe 55 copies, never to be made again, with a signed card by all the group members, an inscription by Rob to me, and extra chapters(2 of my Ike Coins are highlighted in the "Mud Room" Chapter)), Lead Author Rob Ezerman has a VERY interesting chapter on the similarities of the Ike dollar production and Kennedy production and issues such as die abrading for clash removal, and changing of the die steel in 1972, low relief issues, die damage, and more...great reading...maybe Rob will make that chapter a thread in the Ike Group Forum...I'll ask him to post it, so those without the book can at least read the new theories.

I went to one bank to dump some pennies and this guy was cleaning the machine. He told me there was some companies that pick up the bags and count and roll the change for the bank free, but they get to keep any silver they find
for face.

Also tellers have told me the big cart on wheels that look like a wagon gets sent to the fed.
They cannot take anything out because the coin machine keeps tally of the total and when it is full it gets sent off to the fed with a tally slip.

I'd bet a dollar to a donut that coinstar is checking for silver. Extra profits for them.

The manager told my father today (who orders 4 boxes a week) that he may not be able to order them anymore.

Did 2 boxes today found 4 proofs 3 of which I could tell had been in a fire that makes 5 proofs I have found that have been in a fire.
Also found this angel coin suppose to carry it and be protected by an angel. Stuck out like a sore thumb because it has no reeding on the edge.
It is about 1/64" smaller than a half. I read that these were stamped on presses purchased from the US mint.

That's exactly it. Not from the manager of my bank but from his higher ups. We will see what happens. My father has his company account with that bank. He keeps a good amount of money in there at all times, which is why they are happy to order for him. If they pull the plug, he will kindly tell them that he will switch to a bank that can order them for him. That might sway them to waive the fee.
