bbradford71, remember to ask them to save you the BIG DOLLARS.. that would help, maybe some morgans/peace dollars. ALSO, just say anything older than 64.. pennies, nickles.. old bills, I look forward to seeing some of your results.

im in a predicament when it comes to rewarding tellers for their saving me hoards of silver, I'm married, so its tricky with the wife, explaining your giving some teller some gift card or something.. I guess if your not married, more power to you. at this point, the tellers I know, know what I'm doing, so I help them out if they need to sell them.. See, thats the funny thing. these tellers think " Oh NICE! I scored silver" but now what! to get the money, they gotta sell it. or they may hoard it like some of us. But more often than not, most tellers just want to cash in, but dont know how or have the time like we do. So I always suggest splitting the findings, or they sell me the coins, and ill give them a better % than the local coin shop or ebay...usually works, if you have smart tellers saving silver for themselves. I find its the only way to get that silver in my hands, even if I have to pay slightly more . Even telling them " hey, that half is worth 4-5 $ more than face would get them to sell it to you right there. I mean your not being dishonest, IMO, your just not telling them all the facts, like its really worth $12 as far as the spot price goes. but even then, its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

boxes 4 and 5 today, skunks. 5 boxes all skunks so far, got 4 boxes next week.

did 2 more boxes today and finally once again broke my skunker streak of 6 boxes with 8 40s and 1 magician coin feels good to finally yet again find some silver

23 banks, wow that's dedication. I went to 6 banks once and I felt crazy for that.

On the NE corner of Raliegh I saw that there are some of the bank corporate buildings. Not sure if they are just corporate or if they also have branches located on the first level. The buildings stand several stories tall. I enjoy being in the Wilmington area where we have so many branches with coin counters but worst case scenario I may end up feeding a few coinstars along the way too. Note to self: buy stock in Coinstar.... hmmm. Walmart and Food Lion stores have them. If I remember correctly they charge an 8% fee.

On the flip side of things I did find a huge roll of brown craft wrapping paper at the Dollar Tree store for only a buck. I can still cut out custom strips to roll my halves in order to turn them in at the branches in Garner that don't have coin counters. At least that way I can speed up the process for the tellers when I turn them in.

Also, one of my banks has told me that they would be very happy to order me any amount I want in halves. I asked how many they were allowed to order ... they said as many as I wanted. So I asked if that included ordering 57 boxes, picking up 3 at a time throughout the day on Thurs and Friday until I had them all. My jaw about dropped open when they that said that it would be no problem at all. I solemnly swore never to dump any of my halves back at their bank. Then I was very politely thanked for my business since I have joined them specifically in order to get my halves from them.
I still have a plan to get 20 additional boxes on the following Monday also. It is a span of about a week to complete my mission. After that, I will spread it out more evenly in much smaller doses. This is just to get it jump started.
My 14 year old godson is very eager and excited for us to get started with the project. It is one of the few things he shows any interest in so I am happy to share it with him.

Congrats to everyone on their recent silver and NIFC finds! You are an inspiration.

My first box had a large quantity of 1996 P in AU/UNC condition. Was only able to keep a few but they are pretty. It was like they said, well we're a little bit short and dumped several in from fresh rolls. They are BU mostly. Many of the rolls had 2/3 of just the 1995 and 1996 halves. When I had gotten them I had bills to pay too close to when I picked them up or I would have kept many more. Found one 2008 half and it is in a cardboard and mylar holder for now.

Awesome Finds, Jizer! That's a heck lot of silver halves to be found in such little quantities of boxes. I tried a box one time at a corporate branch and managed to walk out with just 1 40%er, since then I've been purchasing customer rolls walking bank to bank. One time, I managed to score a whooping 10 Franklin 90%ers! Man, I should really try those 500 buck boxes again. I'm young like you (aged 17), and have little capital to spend. Anyways good finds y'all!

I am at the other end of NC in the Asheville area. Luckily, there are lots of chains with lots of branches.

The bank I received my first two boxes from is a rather local chain and I really do like them. Tina, the head teller who ordered my first two, is supposed to have ordered me a second two on Tuesday. I am hoping they arrive today.

Though I am new, the bank has been very nice to me so far. I have thought about giving a little thank you, but would like to feel out what the tellers may prefer. It may be a gift card to a very close Starbucks or maybe they prefer doughnuts; I will have to figure this out.

On a side note, I am wondering if anyone keeps 1988Ps found in their rolls. I found almost $30 worth or decent 1988Ps in my first two boxes along with some other rare dates. As for silver, I think my final tally was 3 - 40% and 1 - 90% (1964). I found about six blackened "S" mints from various years and around the same amount of pristine "S" mints from the 1970s through the 2000s. Oh yes, I also found about 6 NIFCs in nice condition.

Oddly enough, when turning part of my first two boxes, a different teller asked me what I did with them once I found them. She asked if I sold them. I told her that I had them in coin folders and was keeping them. After reading SDcoinguy's earlier post, I may ask her if she has any she wishes to sell.

Anyway, off to bed at 2:52 a.m. on the East Coast here. This is one of the few perks of being unemployed after losing my job of 22 years about 8 weeks ago. Also, I can get up a bit later.
