Just did two boxes today. I hit pay dirt! These were my best boxes to date! My first one I got 25 40% and 3 90% including a 1943 walker ! My second box got me 12 40% and a potential proof! The bank ordered two extra boxes, but I cant get there until tomorrow...I hope they are still there!

It's drying up out there in the hunt for silver from boxes of halves ........ Out of 10 boxes searched in the last month, all I have found were 3 40% and 1 90%. I think it has dried up

I guess sometimes you hit paydirt, and then, other times you don't! That is the fun of it, right?

as long as the economy is bad we will find silver halves, there are people out there that have these stashed away or will inherit them or steal them and all they see is money, not this coin is or could be silver. I dropped off some gift cards to my two best tellers today and they were so thankful. They both asked me if there was anything special that I would like them to keep an eye out for. I told them that I would love it if they could save me all of the halves that they get, which I know I am not the only person that comes in and askes for. I think that the gift cards will go a long way in ensuring that they are saved and held for me.

I am going to drop off a Starbucks gift card to my teller tomorrow morning. At first, she was happy to order my boxes, now, she seems a little hesitant.... she hasn't been "able" to order any boxes for me for almost two weeks, although I am getting 8 boxes next week. I think she deserves a gift of my appreciation.... she deserves it, and friendly gestures go a long way in the service industry.

Quote: So, if I can average sorting through 20+ boxes a day then I can get them to order me 69?! What exactly are you bringing to the table? Any transaction is a two way street. I cook, you pay. You help me move, I give you money or gift cards, etc. You're asking them to move over a half ton of coins two or three times (not counting your dump bank), so you can pursue your hobby/moneymaking sideline. The bank is paying them for this work. In exchange for this major inconvenience (how much would you need paid to move a dump truck load of firewood across someone else's yard, for example?), what are you doing for them? added: Quote: I plan to follow the advice of fellow CCF members and bring in some food that all the bank tellers can share. That's a start, but I'm betting even pizza will wear thin vs a dozen boxes a day. If the bank doesn't put a stop to it, which I guarantee they will if they have to pay extra to get them.

Hello Fred, Actually I have been contacting more banks in my area to check on ordering halves in order to spread it around. Today I checked with a credit union I used to do business with. I asked her to find out how many boxes she is able to order for me and what if any fees may be involved. She wrote down my q's and contact info and has promised to contact me on Wednesday.
I hope you can all find joy in your lives with your family and close friends in this hobby and other pursuits that will draw you closer together in this discouraged and hate filled world. May you find a way to brighten each other's lives and the lives of all those you meet. May you find some sunshine and peace in each and every day you live and live it to the fullest.
