nice finds!

so, I got my mother-in-law into hunting....

since its been hard for me to coin roll hunt lately b/c of finances and having a 4mo old baby boy.

she has been able to pick me up a box once a week every friday!

anyway, did my first box since last OCtober and found a nice 1978-S Cameo Proof

no silver. I guess we will see next friday

I've seen talk recently about how the courier and bank you use is NOT important. I want to voice my disagreement and continue to encourage people to post the particulars about where and how they acquired rolls of coin. I agree that you can't make a blanket statement that xxxx courier is bad or xxx bank is good for coin hunters. Whether it be regional or on a bank/courier by bank/courier basis, there are definitely places that pick through the coins before and after they get put in boxes/bags. I know this for a fact. Some times they do it because they are allowed and some times they do it because they can. It just depends on the rules, boss, situation, etc... So please, stop making the blanket statements about xxxx courier/bank not mattering. It may not matter in your town but it does in mine. Thanks for your understanding.

great summation jeff 31! enjoyed your post! You've been doing this a while, huh? How has it been for you, getting boxes from the banks?

Yesterday, both of my banks failed me on my 3 boxes.
Bank 2 with the one box told me the system limits her and won't let her order them, so she can only do it when it allows...she'll call me, took my cell #.
Bank 3 with the 2 boxes I've been getting from for a few months has my vault teller on vaca, and they said come friday. since they usually never have them when they say they will, I waited a day and came in on saturday. of course, they said...oh, we can't get in to the vault. my two boxes are there, but they can't open it. come back monday.

I'm getting pretty tiresome. it's almost not worth dealing with them. maybe try chase they said they would order them. at BOA I always feel like I have to stay on them to get it right.

At least monday I can pick up the 2 boxes, but I'm getting tired of wasting gas and time only to be irresponsibly disappointed.

BernieZ, it's been just about 2 years for me with halves. I have one main Wells Fargo branch with a standing order of one box per week. Once in a while they forget to order it, but usually it is there. For a time last year, I was getting a box from two other Wells Fargo's, and they were always ordered, as I recall. As for your situation, it is unfortunate if they aren't consistent for you. My recommendation is to call ahead before you drive there. At least if they didn't order or can't get in the vault, you won't have to make the trip. I have about 5 branch numbers programmed in my phone! If you are thinking of switching banks, I would open a very low minimum balance account with the understanding that you will be ordering coins, and see how it goes before you make it permanent.

The W.F. where my wife has an account, ordered 1 & "gave some of them to another customer" and then got us a partial box, then wanted to charge her to order another.... I guess it depends on the branch....CK

CoinKat, you're correct, some branches want to charge you like a business account, some will put a limit on orders, and some say they will order as much as you want. Luckily, I have several WF branches around me to choose from, and the ones I have dealt with have been very accommodating.

I Just got off work -- Its late Sunday afternoon -- Sitting at my desk -- I opened my 2 boxes yesterday and I was just thinking " Man I wish I had a box of Halves right now"..... so I could open them and it dawned on me. I used to be into Sportscards back in the early 90's -- I remember spending alot of money on a box of cards and then busting up all the packs in search of hidden treasure. Anyways what dawned on me is the fact that I get the exact same rush from searching a case of halves that I used to in opening up a box of sportscards......... Hello My Name is XXXXXXXXXXXXX and I am a Search Addict ! LOL

thanks everyone.
As far as my job goes, looks like i'll have more time for searching and hopefully doubling my 12 box/week order for a while.
I have a feeling I just cracked into their stockpile of older boxes, all the silver found was hardly recognizable by just looking at the edges. and all the other junk was literally junk, dirty and old. I always flip through them one by one anyways.

By the way, the last 29 coin box was not actually boxed, the bank had bagged it up with another 50 rolls of yellow to ship out. Manager knows I mark boxes and since they were marked she thought they were old dumps. turns out they had reused one of my old dump boxes for packing new rolls, so good thing I asked to see them first.
