Quote: PNC banks around here have them, and I could easily get an account there, would cut back on atleast half my rerolling without visiting to often, but heard to many stories on people being shorted. Also dont know if their halves bags are 100$ or 500$ ,halves arent to hard to roll, but man pennies suck.
I'm assuming you are in the Mid Atlantic region halfhunter. I opened an account with PNC to dump (though I only know of one coin counter). However, one of the tellers gave me a burlap sack to put coins in so they can ship it off to an off site counting area. I'm going to give it a try. I have two sacks with $1000 each. I'm hesitant, but if it works and I dont have to wait too long for my money then it will definitely worth it.

Yeah jizer, I hear ya, how long to get the money back would be thing with that. I have my "coin hunting" money, the only time I really have it all back at the same time is friday-tuesday, but I usually grab boxes of other denomanations in between.
We have one local bank with 3 branches that has a free counter for even non customers, I was gonna grab a bunch of pennies this week, sort them, and try it out next monday.

Yea the teller said that it takes about a week to count and put the money back in. My problem is I get my halfs from BoA, so I need the cash. I have my coin roll hunting money, but I dont want it tied up for a week, where I can access it in case of emergency.
I think the biggest problem with rolling the halfs back up is that the tellers have to unwrap them to send them out. I think thats why they get annoyed...well that and 25 lbs of coins equals a lot of weight.

jizer1 A teller told me once they had to unroll them and bag them. That is why I do not roll my halves it cost the bank money in labor for them to unroll them so I bagged them for a while. THEN I WAS TOLD IT COST THEM MONEY TO HAVE THE BAGS COUNTED so now I dump every thing into coin counters I believe this is the least annoying for the tellers. I try to do everything I can to accommodate them.

@Halfhunter - I never reroll pennies. Instead, I use the rejects as Amazon money. Coinstar gives the gift certificates for free, and I'm always buying stuff from Amazon. I do one to two boxes of pennies a week, so that's around $35 or $40 a week in Amazon money. Hello, diapers.

Halves have dried up here; even clads are scarce now. I usually hunt for loose coins, but it's just not practical anymore. I've been having to drive all over town.
I finally ordered a box at my regular bank. The teller did it for me, but she straight out asked me if I was looking for silver! I said "Yes, and no." I told her I was looking for anything rare, not just silver.
She wanted to make sure I wouldn't just dump them back there. Obviously, I told her there's no way I'd do that.

My problem is that I know of only one coin counter in the region, and I dont want to use it up too much. I guess I'll just spread my dumps out over two counties worth of banks, that way I dont annoy any one branch too much.

Just got back from dump run at northwest savings bank in western pa. The cummins machine is awesome...interesting thing is they pre filled out the labels on some empty bags. The to: is Wachovia, which is super weird. I don't think Wachovia/wells Fargo has any pa branch locations. Just financial advisors and mortgage offices. I wonder if these are getting sent out of state to be processed?

Seelinger,
Wachovia had banks all over NC and likely SC and TN as well. In my area of NC, they have just been bought out by Wells Fargo. So, it would not be at all uncommon for the bags to have Wachovia on them and for them to be going out of your area of PA.
As for the coins you had pictures of, Jbuck has already hit that one on the head. They are nice looking coins and I agree they look like BU (brilliant uncirculated).

Last time I called my head teller, she said she needed to know before 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday before ordering my halves. So, I called her at 9:00 a.m. today and she said it was too late seeing how she had already placed the order early.
In short, I am disappointed but I can live with it. I just went through boxes 9-12 and they were some of the worst I have seen. Anyway, maybe I can ask around at other local banks for some CR or hit some dimes in the interim.
