Boy, I encourage everyone to take a close look back at that Panamanian half. The level of relief in that coin is just amazing! Our coins should look that good! I bet those coins when newly minted look amazing!

I thought I had already posted this but I'm not seeing it on the forum. I picked up my 2 boxes of halves on Thursday. I can't remember exactly but I believe it was around 11 40%ers and a 1999-S proof. Guess my bad luck streak is officially over.

Back into silver again..... Congrat M0NK!

Do you mind me asking which part of country you are in? Seems like things started to pick up for many of us recently. At least in the mid west and north east if I'm correct. I'm in central NC and am waiting for it to happen here, too.

Alright, so including that "gold washed" one I posted earlier, today's box:

1964 x 3
1967 x 4
1965 x 2
1968 x 3
1969 x 1
1966 x 1

2006 D x 1

My last box spoiled me, today's was rough:

1/2 a Magician's coin
1967 Penny from England
0 Silver
0 NIFC

Fingers crossed for my next box Wednesday.

Making a regular deposit today, and there at the teller's tray was a silver half dollar. Clearly visible (to me) amongst the copper clad edges. Bought all $20 worth of her halves, and got a 1965 half for my troubles.
Rest in Peace

Searcher 1: Hey, I found a neat way to make extra money for my coin collection. Get $500 in halves, pull out all the silver and 40% ones, and return the rest for different ones to look thru.

Searchers 2-100: That's a neat idea, I'm gonna do that.

Searcher 1: I can't understand it. I used to find 3-5 silver halves per box, now I'm lucky if I find one every three boxes.

*****

How many ppl does it take to ultimately check all the halves in an area of population around 100,000? One.

How many ppl does it take to ultimately check all the halves in an area of population around 1,000,000? Two.

How many ppl does it take to ultimately check all the halves in an area of population around 10,000,000? Three.

Biggfredd, you are dead on. I have seen halves fall off in my area pretty heavily, and it appears others throughout the country are in the same boat. I fear that this thread and other similar sources of information have lead people to do this, and the result is that none of us are finding very much.

The result is a "tragedy of the commons" type scenario where none of us benefit.
