Everyone's luck turned around and mine went south . I'm on a 6 box skunk streak. One of my boxes was just taped up customer rolls from someone's dump . I didnt want to refuse them and alienate my bank. I guess I need to start shopping around for a new supply. Unfortunately though I am leaving for Australia for 2 years in 2 months. You guys better leave some for me for when I come back

No doubt 52 Raymo. My grandfather owned a store 40 years ago, and as my aunt told me, "no silver ever walked out the store." The rolls from the bank were searched and the silver removed, and all silver that came in, stayed in.

Searching boxes is pretty much useless now. The best strategy is to just search loose halves (or rolls) that bank customers bring in. With this economy, and Baby Boomers retiring or passing away, it's happening every day. It's hit or miss, but sometimes, the hits are pretty big. One time, I found 38 unsearched rolls at a single bank! I ended up with two dozen 40%, and one 90%.

I used to find solid rolls quite often, 2-3 years ago. I knew several bank managers and tellers were ordering boxes for themselves, before I got into it. Their stories of boxes with several hundred keepers were awesome!

Two boxes last night and only one coin to show for it. But it was a good one. My first 1974D DDO! I am getting alot of marked coins and one coin I have seen before as it has a hole drilled through the center. Maaybe I should find a new bank as I only got 2 silver in my last 6 boxes.

I don't know if anyone will believe me, and I have to see if my camera and skills are up to the task, but I found a silver bicentennial proof in my boxes!

I saw someone dumping at my pickup bank last week but I'm not too concerned since it all comes from the Fed. My luck hasn't been too good though....6 boxes and only 2 40's and 1 90%. Some NIFC's and potential 74D DDR's.

In reality, no more unlikely than finding any other proof or NIFC piece. Nice find!

So I am looking at the falling price of silver and I am happy. I am hoarding for decades. The way I see it, other people will do a audit of their silver and think it is not worth the effort and dump it into my hoard. Then when silver hits $100 per ounce... well I will be dead, but my son will appreciate it. Ya know, if he did't dump it because "it is not worth the effort".

Went to bank today and picked $7.50 loose halves and 1 1971 Ike. No good.

Dumped em later on to get my money back and found 1951 Rosey dime in the reject tray!
