Another box, another skunk... 4 NIFCs.

Can't feel bad yet. I was doing better than average before I hit this streak.

BTW, I don't think you can include 2001 in the NIFC category. Production was about 20 million from each mint that year. Compare that to 2002, production of about 3 million per mint.

Not only that, but the 2000's and 2001's for some reason are usually bu coins, as in Beat Up or Butt Ugly.

It looks like silver halves are starting to pop up again. I thought they would be easier to find when the price of silver dropped, but that didn't happen right away. I had really bad luck for about a month, but things seem to be getting better.

I only keep 1987, and 2002-2012 as NIFCs. I actually run across a decent number of 2000 and 2001 in really nice condition, but they are so easy to find and even in great shape are not worth that much.

Due to the holiday, my bank ordered earlier than normal and I will be out my two boxes this week. Oh well, maybe the newer boxes will come this time and have silver in both.

Pungod and SDCoinguy - the 529's are a state level "college" savings/tax sheltered plan. The Coverdell Educational Savings Account (CESA for Short)is a federal level ESA that allows funds to grow tax free when used for any type of educational expense period. Although the 529's are similar, they can only used be for college expenses. CESA's on the other hand can be used for "any qualified educational expense." i.e. kindergarten - college graduation. Whether its tuition, books, supplies, computers, uniforms - as long as you can tie it directly to an educational expense, you don't pay any taxes on it at all!

My clients would actually purchase real estate, gold and silver eagles, and lend money (to a non-disqualified individual) for a negotiated % of return - ALL within their CESA accounts.. AND all TAX FREE!

With a state sponsored 529 plan you can ONLY invest in their (extremely) limited portfolios - all of which are absent (to my knowledge) of any personal choices - the only upside to 529's are that you can sock away alot more money in them. The CESA has a limit of $2000 per year for households within the MAGI limits.

That's the 25000 foot view.... do some googleing and you'll come up with a ton more - specifically google "Self Directed IRA" or "Self Directed CESA" if you are interested in the "fun stuff" you can do with these plans (like buy silver and gold and real estate)

...... Sorry Mods (and anyone else falling asleep) because this is off topic/ doesn't pertain to them.

On topic - Getting some cash tomorrow and hitting up some fruitfull hunting grounds near my downtown area - I'll post my results!

While repacking some of my last two boxes, it occurred to me that I primarily look at the fronts for errors and rarely look at the back. Normally, I only look at the reverse to see if FG is missing for related dates.

I need to take more time looking at the reverse side for die cracks and other errors.

BTW, I think this is my 500th post. What better thread to post it on than this one. Man, I love this hobby.
