JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters: Silver, Proofs And Other Finds

the boxes are manually folded, sealed and verified to be the accurate $$$/rolls. they have to have someone to blame when a bunch of boxes end up shorted or whatever.

the depository has the machines to roll and box up coin. anything coming out of the depository for delivery has to be quality controlled. otherwise the boxes without stamps originated from the fed and are almost always unsearched stockpiles. when depositories are receiving a lot of coins from deposits, they have no need for the fed to replenish their inventory. that's why you will see the stamped boxes having little to no silver. they are mostly recent dumps and are being counted and shipped right back out to customer orders.

this is what is happening to me now. I had a full year of mostly fresh boxes and pulled my fair share of silver. recently a new local hoarder started to volume hunt/dump $60-70k a week back into the system and now the depository is overstocked with the searched dumps. they ordered many boxes to cover the deliveries until the dumps caught up and they have no need to order fed boxes for months or more. I haven't seen a fresh box in 2 months now.

3rd week in a row, 4 boxes, 1 silver. mostly marked redumps. this week got 4 yellow flats w/ yellow wraps. stamped on bottom. all junk.

time for me to move on from halves. it's turned into a real cluster(fill in the blank) since the volume dumps started and now the depository has all the searched and sprayed halves they need to supply the city for months.

this has happened before and will pass eventually but with the $$ amounts that he has put into this system it will take a lot longer to work itself out, especially if it continues.

Searched $1700 of halves and finally got my first silver! a 40%.

I've had a good 2 day run of nickels so i'll be on those for a while. 2 39's and 5 43's in last box of plastic rolls. most silver I've found in 3 weeks.
i find the nickels to be a bit more fun anyways.

Like I have said before, it is just childish to spray paint half dollars. It is simply juvenile.

A pink, orange, red, or green Sharpie can help mark coins just as easily and in a manner not as
destructive as the paint. One can create their own, unique mark which can then be removed with some
acetone later if need be by another searcher.

Sorry for getting up on the soap box, but it is just inexcusable to paint half dollars to simply
identify them as yours later. Now, if you care really good and paint them for resale that is another
creature entirely.

try B of A. They usually have the largest vaults for storage.
