I only have experience with 2 magician coins. But I had to soak both of them in acetone first. There was "crud" between the 2 pieces and the acetone seemed to loosen it up. I then held the coin on one edge and lightly tapped it on a hard surface. I found that it would open up on the end you are tapping. I hope this helps.

I didn't know they sold for so much on E-Bay. I have one I found when I first started
doing boxes.
Now, if I can just remember where I put the darn thing!

I to had no idea the magician coins were worth so much, and would never have known I got one till I dropped my bag of halves and it broke open. I guess I will put it up on the bay.

Just discovered that I have 2 magicians coins. Before I read the last couple pages, I just considered them as those half dollars that made a funny sound when dropped... and I was compelled to keep them. Good thing I did! Although I am disappointed in myself for not noticing the medallic alignment.

FINALLY!
Okay, picked up a lot of CR coinage at a local bank today. In the mix were 7 rolls of halves.
In the third one I found the following:
1969-D
1968-D
1965
Now to check them for errors. :)

Got this from 4 string and sons boxes. 8 40%, 4 franklins, 2 walkers, 1 90% kennedy. 1 1960 hong kong dollar not silver. also I have been finding halves with numbers stamped above the date any idea where these are from? Also got one with a maltese cross    |

Looks like most of my orders were wiped out by Sandy, ugh. Did get two boxes today, first skunked second gave up 2 '64's, 20 40%ers, and a '76 proof. Not bad.
