My dream is to find a 70D in circulation.

I have a couple - but bought them since I never found one in circulation (including in the 70s when I used to be looking for them).

Do you think its b/c you order a large volume you have some good finds like these? Is the theory that this makes them dig deeper in "the pile" to get the boxes? I know 8 or 9 boxes is a lot to go through so your odds are higher. I am just wondering what could contribute to your finds being more/ration of what I am finding with just 2 boxes a week.

That post clears up so much! I have a couple 1972-D that make this ridiculous thud. I must assume they are hollow. Also what is the 1984-D RPM?

The 72-D actually has a 90 degree rotated reverse. I recently read that some people are making rotated reverses out of real coins so they can sell as high dollar errors. I did a simple drop test and it makes a thud instead or a ringing sound. I can see what I believe to be a groove around the rim on the reverse. This leads me to think it is a hollow coin. I'm going to take it by my local coin shop and ask them to weigh it. If it weighs less than 11.34 grams, I'll then attempt to take it apart tomorrow at work.

As for the 84-D Repunched Mintmark. I gathered my information from Coneca. I am new to identifying these type of errors. Especially without pictures to guide me. I was able to find pictures of a 1989-D RPM in "Strike it Rich with Pocket Change". I used this as my guide and tried to picture what the RPM would look like based on the decription from Coneca website.

If I can get good enough pictures, I will post them in the error section some time next week.

Thanks. That's how I separated the first one I found. This is my second. I'm taking it to work to separate because I normally soak it in acetone. I found that the first to be filled with "crud". Acetone seemed to help loosen the 2 parts.

Thanks for the photos. The ones you have are really cool. I have only found halves. I'm going to start paying closer attention to my quarters.

I finally got the magician open. This one was different from my first one.



The 1965 British Penny was glued to the back of the reverse of the Kennedy.


The last 2 pictures show all the pieces separated.

i have been able to sell these magic coins for a good premium on ebay.
even in bad condition they still sell for $10-18 each.
i think I've sold over a dozen. a lot of people are buying them.

I gave my first magician coin to my Nephew so this one is going to my Niece. If I get any more I think I'll sell them. I had no idea they would be worth that much.
