1984d looks like silver ~ well not a sharpie but I was wondering if someone plated it, it was already kind of beat up so I took my knife to the edge and still saw no copper in 2 places, and now it doesn't matter because I can't find it, I thought I set it aside but I can't find it anywhere now.

I moved cities so I'm trying to get a bank to give me halves. I successfully got a box last week and went back to the same place but they wanted to charge me 9% ($45). That's such a crazy fee, so I just left. I'm even an employee at that bank (on the corporate side) and that didnt help.

I went down the road to another bank and only got $100 worth. A 2000 S clad was my only find.

Why are so many NIFC's found? If they're not intended for circulation, how do they get into circulation?

Thanks.

Same way proof coins and other old BU stuff make their way in. People decide they don't want to keep them anymore and rather than take them to a coin shop, they simply dump at a bank or spend them.

That's why you always want to ask for 'customer-rolled' coins when at the bank. You're hoping for those people :)

I have a friend who's a fellow collector, and a cashier. She doesn't usually see silver, but has gotten some Ikes/SBAs, clad halves, foreign coins, sometimes even a Merc. We trade coins sometimes, and I tell her about my CRH finds.

The other day she said, "I found a half dollar." I replied, "Well, that's good, what year?". She said, "1964. I instantly thought of you." Needless to say, I bought it off her. She charged me a little less than melt. I still can't believe someone spent a 90% half at the supermarket...

NIFC leftovers from the mint are shipped out to Reserve banks and are thrown in to the dumps as well.
i pulled a bags worth of 2008's out of a box once. 100 of each P&D. Brand new.

I'm a little behind...Indian, great find on page 904! Love that.
Picked up $40 in CWR halves yesterday, yielding 1 40%. I'll take that all day long. Picked up $100 in halves from another bank and no silver but nice pieces.
