2 Boxes yesterday and got 2-68's & 2-69's

On My way down to pickup 4 boxes now.

12 boxes

21 - 40% pulled from mostly 5 boxes
2 - 90%
4 - trick coins pulled from 3 boxes
1 - gold plated first one not all scratched up or warn off - thrown back
1 - balboa
8 - Proofs 3 worth keeping

@hybes That's awesome. Where do you find is the best place to sell them? Also, how many boxes a year would you say it takes to get to $500 (you said $500 for the 3rd time in 3 years so I figured that one year of boxes would represent $500 in face value).

@yvairguy - That is not one find, that is an accumulation of months of searching boxes and cwr.

@kurrykid - I do approx 10 boxes a week. Numbers have dropped way off in the last year and a half.

I feel that less and less will be found as more and more publicity is given to the hobby.

I think many people will jump on the bandwagon, realize how few there are for the costs and time involved, and then move on. Only those willing to do a lot of searching will likely find anything of substance and they will likely be hunting more for the enjoyment of the hobby than for the few pieces of silver they find here and there.

Personally, finding $4 worth of silver in 1000 half dollars is not a cost efficient exercise for me. If it were purely a cost efficiency issue, I would not be doing it. This being said, I would love to hit a monster box at least once for the rush of it. I would love to find a 1970-S, and I would love to find a few nice error coins. A nice Cud or rotation error would be icing on the cake. Of course, if someone were to accidentally drop a nice platinum round in a roll that would be okay as well. :)

Kenscott, are 1970-S halves worth more than the average 40% proof? I ask because I recently found one in a roll. I never look up coin values so I don't even know what it's worth.
