Does anyone know how much Flat Field doubling can effect the value of a coin? In fact, how many here have even heard of Flat Field doubling?

I knew what the error was but never really new the name. Nice to put the face with the name.

Thanks for the link, Ken. So basically, when the double-strike of a proof coin shows. I'd imagine it doesn't affect value much, and if it does, I think it might have a negative value due to the fact that proof collectors seem to like "perfect" coins.

16 boxes Wed and Thurs gave up 5 90% and 14 40%. Averages are still low, but coming up a bit. 8 more boxes today.

Long time listener, first time caller...

Since I had a large purchase at Amazon in the works, decided to order a couple of boxes of halves to search through since Coinstar charges no fee for Amazon codes.

Box 1:
1 63 Franklin
1 64 Kennedy
13 40% Kennedys

Box 2:
19 40% Kennedys

I think I may already be hooked as that kills versus 1% cashback on a credit card.

picked up 12 boxes of halves and 12 boxes of pennies today at one of the banks and the gal says she was in line at Vons(grocery store, think they are nation wide) and the Garda guy is complaining to the person they are dropping monies to at Vons about a customer at one of their banks ordering a lot of coin. Really.... she said she sent a email to the manager at Garda, so I called when I got home and the manager sounded mad. I said if they want to tell everyone in town that someone is ordering large amounts of coin and telling them at which bank I bank if someone was to try to knock me in the head an rip me off who am I to blame? I will be curious to see what happens this week. He said if there is anything he can do to give him a call, yep start delivering 20k in halves to my doorstep two times a week LOL

one box in and found another edge marked silver that looks clad. do you guys find many like this? thay look clad but are super shinny? almost look like they are chromed on the face, most of the silver I find are kind of white, like they have been cleaned somewhere in their lifetime.

Found a couple like that usually brand new 40%, look fresh from mint sets. They have enough "shine" to them to tell. I have yet to miss one edge checking, after I check the sides, and interesting rims, I always take the whole roll and let it drop and do the listen test.

I dropped by PNC today and made a small deposit. Just so happened the lady who waited on me was the head teller I had spoken to earlier. I thanked her for ordering the box this past week and told her I had found two proof coins. I asked her if she knew their value and she said no.

I told her maybe $1.00 a piece if I was lucky and that I just really loved to find nice proofs. She said she could order me two each week if I liked. I asked her if I could pick up one early in the week and one about two days later. She said that would be okay.

Do not want to appear as a hoarder. It is a bit more difficult to get banks to order in my area and I do not want to spook my new bank who is doing this for me.

Wade,

I call this my golf because the success rate is similar but feels so good when you hit it just right. :)
