Just found a 1993-S and 1994-S right beside each other in the middle of a roll. Do not think I have ever had that happen. They are just about perfect and folders await them. So, before looking for errors, I have the following tally:

1 x 1966
1 x 1993-S (Clad)
1 x 1994-s (Clad)

Not bad for just one box and I haven't checked for error coins yet. :)

@kenscott What's your method for checking for errors? I haven't found a good method that doesn't take forever. I'd like to find a better way to scan through them.

Any thoughts / comments would be appreciated.

Hang a pretty good box today:

1 - 1967
4 - 1968
1 - 1986 Proof Statue of Liberty Half Dollar...pretty cool!

I like the 1986 proof but it will probably be on ebay by the end of the night. Not really the kind of things I collect.

kenscott, you got to nip it now. If you show up next time and the box is open, politely ask them not to do that. My guess is the teller allowed your competing crher to have one of the boxes, but it didn't stop there. They opened both boxes to allow him to look for 'marks' or silver. So not only did they potentially give away a box, but there may have been a reason he chose the other one!

(yes I know...I'm a bit of conspiracy theorist)

kenscott:

Unless the box was damaged/broken open etc when Garda was delivering it to the bank, there is no reason why any teller has to open a sealed box of coins "to see if they are all there"

That's wrong. Something isn't right with that. If it happens again I would talk to the Head-teller or Branch Manager about it.

You should be getting completely sealed boxes!

Good luck!

*All of the half boxes I get are String & Son- yellow/white wrappers.

Garda and Dunbar are the carriers.*

If they want to make sure all the rolls are there, all they need to do is flip it upside down and check the holes that were made specifically for that...

See what happens next week, if the same thing, I would say something. At my oldest pick up bank over a year now, had that happen once, tellers said we had to open the one box, only got 330$ from it? I would pick the boxes up the day they dropped them off, they were always visable on the back counter, I figure they cracked it for a customer. I always hated the boxes just sitting there in the open , I solved that by picking them up the next day, they had to have the armored guys put them by the vault and not on the counter, Sounds like garda boxes, hope you have better luck then me with them. I dumped 2 more gardas from my weekly line up because they have absolutely sucked the last 6-7 monthes, used to be the best, people are just hammering their coin machines with dumps is what I suspect. Downed them from 14 to just 4 boxes next week, over the last month.

Perhaps that particular teller was checking for enders...

That's what I'd bet, Joe.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, last time I only got a partial box from my order at a bank where I know a teller cherrypicks, the box was pretty good. 34 keepers in $410 worth of rolls. I'm guessing that teller cherried the ender rolls for himself and gave me the rest... irritating.

Thanks everyone for the comments on the open box. I totally agree that something was not right. I think one box did go to another customer, and I think he or she got to check for silver enders. There was no reason I could think of either for the teller to bring me the open box.

Now that I think about it, she brought it and then seemed to say she checked it to make sure it was all there as an afterthought. Oh well, I am going to e-mail the head teller and ask her to order two more boxes. If they are opened, I will have to address the issue.

As for the one box I got, most looked like they were well worn coins. The grades were a bit lower than the old Brinks boxes I once got. Still, not a bad take for one box. Here are my final results.

1966.....40% Silver...AU
1993-S...Clad Proof...BU
1994-S...Clad Proof...BU
2000-S...Clad Proof...AU
2002-D...NIFC...AU
2004-D...NIFC...AU
2010-D...NIFC...EF
