Bernie,WV cant be mad at the bank...they were just doing their job.First come first served. He cant say they were "my" boxes, because they are the banks boxes until they sell them.Joe probably wont find anything anyway...he will probably get someones dumps.

If it is a first come first serve situation, then one cannot really be upset. Yet, if the bank ordered them for a particular person and then sold them someone else, it would be a entirely different situation. It is an oral agreement and the bank would be at fault if they sold them to another person.

If my bank told me they ordered me two boxes, and then gave them to someone else, I would note my displeasure in a calm but poignant manner.

It definitely wasn't a first come first serve situation. I was in the bank buying some boxes of dime and the head teller actually volunteered to start ordering boxes for me since she was already ordering for 2 other people. They were absolutely ordered for me. I was disappointed after I saw what he got, but I really didn't get mad. People make mistakes and you just have to deal with it and move on. I didn't make too big of a deal out of it because I don't even have an account at the bank. I just go there because in the past the tellers have been very nice and will let me have multiple boxes of every denomination. I just asked them to put my name on some of the boxes next time. If the other guy got skunked I probably wouldn't have even posted anything.

May see if I can do four boxes this week versus my normal two boxes. Hesitant seeing how the last four have been really bad skunks. This said, it only takes that one killer box to change things.

I believe the best box I have ever searched had 13 of the 40% version and 1 of the 90% version. Nothing had done that well before and nothing has even come close to doing that since. So, when I read of 20 and 30 silvers being found I know there is still hope for a monster box.

I have never found a full roll of silvers either like some here have. Maybe one day I will run across the deposit from an older person or someone depositing those old rolls found in the parents house.

I was speaking to a person last summer at a local yard sale. Evidently, after the passing of a family member, another family member took a bunch of quarters he found in the house and dumped them in a Coinstar machine. It turns it it was jars of silver quarters that had been saved. He thought he had done really well getting around $275 from the dump. Yep, around $275 face value of silver quarters directly into the Coinstar machine.

I went through the two boxes that I got last week. Both were skunks on silver, but I did manage to find my first '74-d DDO, my first '72 DDR, and a possible '71-D DDO. I have pics of the '74 and '72 but I guess I forgot to snap one of the '71. These aren't the greatest, as they were taken with my iPhone through my loupe, but I think you can still see the doubling. The condition of both is a bit poor as well.

It is easiest to see the doubling on this '72 on the AM of AMERICA.

I'm sorry, but if I order a product and they give it to someone else, that's their fault.

@BernieZ

Nice score on those shopping network and Sunday newspaper ad sticker coins. And to think someone paid at least $1 if not $5 for each one of those.

@Monks: sweet on the endo streakage! you think these NIFCs with that type of damage are from the storm? Really? It would be good to know.

@Jack: what a scam, right? paint it gold, put a design on it, of somebody famous, act like it's valuable, and sell it to poor elderly people who buy it because they're so terribly lonely.

5 boxes today as I had to work this weekend and couldn't dump the $2K I have sitting around and don't want to get on the wrong side of my main pickup bank. I was talking to the branch manager about my bad luck streak, my latest house I bought last fall that I am working on, I could finally get my motorcycles out last weekend, etc and somehow the topic of bad roll hunters came up. He said he had to shut one guy down and tell him not to come back. He said I didn't have to worry and the vault teller came up and said that myself and another guy they have come in to get boxes are a pleasure to deal with and they don't mind doing business with me. He did mention that it does cost the bank money to order boxes.

So I guess it does pay to be polite, say thank you, and occasionally bribe everyone with donuts and the occasional pizzas.

I usually hook up my pickup banks but I think I might need to hook up my dump banks the first Saturday I can get off as they work just as hard.

Today score: NADA.

No silver, a few NIFC half of which got end mulched by the roller, a few weird toners for my reject collection including a Bicentennial getting sucked into a green wormhole , 3 more holed coins one of which was plugged which I have also seen an increase in, and a mulched half and 2 intentionally scratched and mutilated coins. I haven't seen a coin after 1880 that had been plugged, and another sticker coin for my reject collection.

I stopped by the bank in the grocery store on a beer run on the way home from work and they had $6 in halves one of which was also bent and mulched up at some point in it's life.

Congrats Monks on breaking the streak. Too bad you didn't break this streak like you did the last one! I'll remember that score for a long time.

6 boxes coming in today. I'm picking up four at lunch.

I picked up another two boxes yesterday as well as a few loose one from the tellers tray. She said they were old ones that she was keeping for herself, but customers come first. She wasn't lying about one of them, my first Franklin! a 1949-D. That is also my first 90% ever pulled from circulation. I'll try to get a pic of it up here later.

I went through the first of yesterday's boxes and was skunked on silver again and only found 1 NIFC. I still have to go through my stack of possible doubled die coins. Hopefully the second box will have better results.

Car's in the shop again...make that $2600 spent to fix an oil leak...

So, all my boxes are backed up. Got like 6 boxes at one bank and 3 at another...

I seriously hate cars.
