Is this common? It almost looks like small beads doubled over large beads.

The "A" in REGINA is to the right of a denticle, so I would think large bead...but I'm no expert.

Here is the website:

Actually, here is one of mine I'm curious about too...
Any help to determine it to be a small bead would be great...I think it is, but, like I mentioned before, I'm no expert...

I notice something like that on nickels fairly often and have always thought it could be Die Deterioration, but I'm not certain.

Aardspeed, your coin looks like Blunt, small beads.

It's a large bead coin. I was more interested in the cause of the "double bead" effect.

It was pointed out to me (forgive the pun) that this coin is not a Pointed 5. Looking at the over all shape of the 5 as well as some other photos, I would have to agree. It seems the blunt 5 has varying degrees of slant and although this coin has it more than many blunt examples, the thicker shape of the bottom part of "5" is more in line with a blunt "5".
