Congrats SPP...Chance of a lifetime especially when a collector gets to be the one to XRF it. The rim looks fragile with it being soft and struck in lead. Amazing piece.

I'm not sure if you got a chance to thoroughly look it over during your busy day but what would you grade it as?

Fantastic opportunity SPP! I get the feeling you will have a few more 'once in a lifetime' moments with that XRF machine!

Other than the obvious million-lifetimes experience, which is awesome beyond words, do you have any information on previous testing? It looks to me like two or three harsher methods were used in the past, judging by my observation that material was filed off of the reverse rim to obtain samples. I can only think that those marks were from previous testing. Why else would you do that to a one-only coin? I can just imagine the TPG grade... SP67 Details - Filed Rim.

"The two known Pattern Dollars, as well as the lead striking, were struck in London before the dies were sent to Canada" "Until November 19, 1977 the only two known trial strikes were in silver. The lead striking was discovered shortly thereafter on November 20, 1977. It was sent to the Department of Finance in Ottawa for examination and had remained there in a brown paper parcel in the East Block of the Parliament Buildings for more than 65 years" http://www.diverseequities.com/index.php?item=2Congrats SPP!

I suppose it could easily have vanished in the Fire, & have remained unknown forever.
