Picked this up at an antique shop, but since I was unfamiliar with early banknotes, I accidentally overpaid by almost twice its value. What do you guys think?

Could you crop and rotate your pics? Looks like the pics are upside down and backwards?

I have a $3 bill. It's a Bull's Head Bank one though. Its also a reproduction note

I don't know much about Obsolete bank notes.

There are a few auction results on Heritage for this denomination http://currency.ha.com/c/search-res...#39094-24012

On one of the Heritage lots I looked at, it stated "this was a short lived bank in business from 1849 to 1854".

In the field of obsolete bank notes, $3 bills are not all that uncommon. But the denomination is always more in demand than $1s or $2s, just because of its novelty.

I like your note -- it's got some very nice engraved vignettes.
