I had this coin for over a year before noticing something amiss with it. Can you see what's wrong with it?

Holy cow, I had to look at that for a while before I realized how obvious it was. I'm going to hold off for other replies rather than ruin the party this early, but I'll email you what I found.

The first 9 looks to have some type of doubling going on.I am going to go with a doubled date.

I had to compare it side-by-side to my 1929 D and the error becomes pretty obvious. SsuperDdave called it, it's hiding in plain sight!

(Of course, now we ask ourselves, how did it happen? Kind of a weird location for this...)

The die crack AcesKings mentioned isn't common either; I suspect this wasn't the strongest die they ever created.

CORRECT! It has an interior Die Cud just above the left side line of stars, and just under the drapery.

Here's a normal '28D to compare with......
