I have a coin(token?)it says Canadian football classic,Calgary host city 1993 and a serial number on one side and WEST ,Edmonton 33, EAST Winnipeg23 the date November 28 1993. Also 2oz fine silver 999.
I've looked for info about coin but can find nothing, I'm not trying to find out about the game just the coin.Where was it minted ,how many and a value, or anything you might know about its encapsulated and came in a its own box.
Thanks

Well there`s a bitter taste that just got put back in my mouth...

You couldn`t GIVE me that coin if you tried.... course I bleed blue!

I don`t remember this coin being issued but I have a feeling it was probably a private mint issue and probably would be recognized for PM value... unless you can find a die hard eski fan!

BAH! such bad memories of that game... shoe-gate!! I believe it was referred to for awhile here in the peg.

From your description, your piece is a medal and not a coin or a token.

It's value (to all but the most ardent Edmonton fan) would likely be its melt value or just slightly above. Your best chance of getting more than that would be to find a fan who wants it for his/her collection.

There really isn't much of a collector market for these privately-struck medals.

Thanks for all the replies. I didn't think it was much more than melt,I picked it and a 76 olympic $10 coin up for melt price .I like silver so I'm happy. AgCoinAu I'm originally a Pine Falls boy,not to far from you, so I'd have been rooting for the bomber too. Maybe you should buy it from me and melt it down, it might be good theropy ;)
