Avoiding that name is the "Numismatically Correct" thing to do. To do otherwise would be all a boo boo.

Maybe I don't understand but, would creating that search engine not bring people to a topic that would inform them of the practice? Like I said I see where s Dave is coming from but there must be more people like me who don't know much about this topic.
When I started collecting and joined the forum is when I first heard about these counterfeits, so I put pieces together and over months of seeing them pop up here finally understand a bit about it.
Imagine seeing someone looking for something on the street. And asking them what they are looking for. And them saying I am not really sure. That's how I felt in the beginning with this topic. I knew enough to look but wasn't sure where. It took me a bit before it was mentioned they are from china.
I know that we want to " keep our world from there's separate" but it seems we kinda live in the same world. As much as I see fake LWC selling on the bay I don't see how our worlds are separate.
I wonder, Do their sites have pics?cause I would be inclined to think that could be a valuable source for a collector to compare and educate themselves on these knockoffs.
If people knew this was going on they wouldn't buy these fakes. The more info out there the better. But as I said, people have to educate themselves. Just figure we have to help them. I'm glad we can discuss it here.

Counterfeit money is obviously not permitted here. If they are shipping it to the US, wouldn't they be illegal if it is counterfeit money?

The fakes of course are illegal here, but the Chinese shippers are breaking no laws because it is legal in China for them to ship fakes to us. The people breaking the law are the people here ordering them and importing them into the country. Now the problem is how to find those people. You can either spy on every ones internet usage watching to find some one buying from them, or you can stop every package entering the country open it and search it for fakes. Neither option is very practical.

This is important to remember. The only way we can stop this is to eliminate the consumer since we have no jurisdiction over the producer.

Unfortunately it is not only from China that fake coins are coming from. And that is why there are so many out there. At a flea market not long ago one dealer had virtually hundreds of fake coins. He vanished right after that. And naturally none are marked fake, copy, etc. What a shame that such a great hobby is slowly being infiltrated by so many counterfeiters.

Wouldn't it be better to educate new members or collectors about them so they don't mistakenly give them business?

No, it's better to not point out to 150,000 pairs of eyeballs a day where to buy them by the gross for a few dollars each.

Some of the more convincing fakes, I've heard, are emanating from Bulgaria.

Wow, I just went there, really makes me wonder about everything I have purchased in the last 2 months.

They even have fake slabbed... I had hoped that if it PCGS it was safe.

They were selling fake 1909-S VDB's in fake PCGS slabs, MS-64's it read, for $164. Now, there's only one reason to market those at that price .... for another angler to catch a bigger fish!

They are selling a replica 1842 O Seated dollar. The obverse has the seated 1842 look, the reverse has a New Orleans Morgan dollar reserve.
