Would this be a die line? It starts at the top of the 5 up toward the nose. Under the glass it looks like it is raised.

Received this coin in my change today.

So it could be a linear plating bubble?

Not a plated cent it's copper. Maybe a die gouge? Looks to straight for a die crack.

looks like a die crack. let me tell you guys or I mean ask you guys. can a die crack, just about anywhere or do certain dies crack mostly in the same area depending on the design. cause some parts of the area have to go deeper into the dies than other areas but I guess there can be a weak spot in the material they make the dies with I mean I would think they would accrue in those weak and deepest spots or area.

Die scratch?
Die crack?
Close call.
It would take (for me) a really close examination.

A die crack is a result of cyclical fatigue on the die. The more use a die sees the chances of a die crack increase. Micro cracks will propagate in high stress locations. There are always weak points on any object and in this case the die's weak points are where die cracks occur. Failure always occurs in the path of least resistance aka stress concentrations. If you notice you will mainly see die cracks propagating from a cornered edge not an edge with a radius. This is the same reason why airplane and submarine windows have radius corners and don't come to a point like house windows. A great example is on LMCs the base of the monument sees many die cracks coming off the corners. The statement that the deepest spots accrue dies cracks is just merely a coincidence. I would have to say most die cracks occur in specific areas based off the design of the coin, but there could be cases where there is a greater stress concentrated area. Remember it is always the path of least resistance so it can be hard to predict.

Tough to tell from picture. I was going to say die crack cause the line isn't clean and it starts at the corner of the 5 . Would be the first one I have seen like that it is still a close call. Crack/scratch this is just one of those you have to have a really good picture of or the coin in hand too tell

What does the reverse look like? If it is flattened, the obverse may be damaged. If not a closer image of that area might give us a better clue.
