1967-Diving-Goose?

1967-Diving-Goose?

I don't think this one has enough die rotation for a diving goose, but seller is listing it as such. Just thought I'd ask you guys what you think.

In my opinion, that would be a rotated goose which is not uncommon.
A diving goose should have a rotation of at least 45 degrees.

Not a diving goose. Obverse is over rotated in holder to give the goose a more diving look. Does have a die rotation but no where near 45 deg.

To assume that NGC is purposely putting the coins in a holder to show more rotation is reaching to say the least. The coin is not attributed as such so I'm not sure what the purpose would be.

Yes, I agree with the posts so far. The rotation on the above coin is ~24 Degrees. I have messaged the seller about his "accidental" missattribution.

I'm not assuming NGC did anything here. Coins over a period of time can rotate inside holders and can be jarred to move. The rotation of the obverse has created a illusion of more of a diving goose than there really is. I don't see anywhere on the holder than NGC attributes this as a diving goose and do believe the coin was properly positioned in the holder originally. Nobody here purposely reaching or attacking NGC for anything.

zxcccxz-
I also sent the seller a note pointing out his "mistake".
Be interesting to see if he gets back to either one of us.

He actually got back to me already. He said that the 20 Degree rotation is a different variety of the diving goose, and that the reason he's asking only $175 for it is because it's not a full 45 Degrees.
Seems pretty honest to me. He offered me a 15% discount but I told him I was not interested.

I got the same response from him.
Still not enough of a rotation to ask a $100.00 premium on.

Which would be more difficult to find with the diving goose..

.. The PL or the MS in high grade ? (I don't have either of that variety..but they are cool)

The PL is harder to find I believe.
