Does this look like the 1857 type of 1856?

I think so. Noticeable squaring of the inside of the O, center serifs of E and F touching at top, and the point of the first A in AMERICA clearly centered between denticles.

I will get some better pics when it arrives. It's in a pretty high grade and CAC agrees. Definitely the finest flying eagle I've purchased.
Keeping my fingers crossed that it's the S-1. Too hard to tell from the pics.

And more denticle spacing above AMERICA, which I see here, and a disparity in heights between the leaves on the C and T on the reverse, which is why I asked for the reverse.
I kinda like his chances here, so far, although the 8 and 5 are not promising.

Here is the reverse. These are scans, not great pictures. The pics from the NGC website show luster more.

Not sure enough of the minor differentiations between these to draw anything conclusive from what I can find online - I only have access to high-res images of Snow-1 and Snow-2 and they're too close to be sure. Have to wait for the date.

Well its not the S-1. Bummer, but still a good deal for the type of 1856 variety. Some better pics. Coin is graded MS64+ and CAC stickered. It is also pedigreed to the Highland Collection. It boggles my mind that they dont attribute all the coins in the big collections that come in. This should have been an easy one, guess they didnt want to pay the $15.
