Wow those are much worse than what I received, though I didn't inspect the Commemorative Dollar really much.

After looking at the dimes under magnification outside on a sunny afternoon, I see them like this.

One set both dimes have a shot at 70's, not that I would submit them, but the one set's dimes are perfect to my eye.

One set had both dimes probably at 69's.

One set was probably 68 and 69 or 70. The reverse proof being the 68. Two spots plain as day.

The other two sets were probably 69 for one and 70 for the other coin. One more 70 candidate in each style.

So all in 4 70's, 4 69's, a 68 dud, and a toss up 69 or 70.

Looked worse at first glance. Lots of hairs and whatnot on the capsules.

Received my order this morning, 2 sets are perfect, 2 sets are just about perfect (maybe a few hairlines under 20X) 1 set had some pitting on the proof dime. Going to try and flip 3 to pay for the other 2.

@BuckeyeCoinGuy - thanks for sharing your photos! Good stuff.

@matttheriley - I ordered the Kisatchie 5-oz coin and 2 UNC mint sets along with MoD sets.

I received my shipping notification this morning. UPS ground, should be delivered probably Monday or Tuesday.

I received my sets and my new Turkey P puck today about 90 minutes ago, they came UPS. They all look pretty good, but I think I need to look them over a little better again to make sure.

Where did you get this number? I always have trouble digging through the USMint's website. Thank you for sharing.

I'm sure this was asked before but it confuses me every year:

Why is the mintage limit 500k and the product limit 75k. Which coins are going in another set?

75K W silver proof dimes and P reverse proof silver dimes.

500K combined unc and proof MOD commemorative dollars of which 75K proofs will end up in the 3 coin set.

In theory if the combined mintage of the MOD silver dollars from their individual sales was > 425000 prior to the MOD Special Sets going on sale, not all 75000 of these MOD Special Sets could have been produced because not enough silver dollars would be available.

The Mint had planned this set from the outset. The coins needed for the set were reserved from the very beginning.

$155 is the least I can figure for NGC to slab 2 sets with the MARCH OF DIMES SET/ER pedigree (and return the OGP). It's a heck of a gamble for a regular ANA submitter. You can't even open it up to check them out before submitting if you want that label for the dollars too.

I am curious as to your insight regarding the Mint going above and beyond to promote certain commemorative issues vs. holding the sponsor responsible for promoting the coin when they don;t sell and there is no payout.

Girls Scouts didn't make the cut to get the payout.

Civil Rights didn't make the cut to get the payout.

The Mint knew the collecting public and the speculating flippers would be all over any reverse proof issue and they chose to issue a special set for the MOD issue. Sure there is the obvious Roosevelt tie in with the dime but was there maybe some insider trading going on with the Mint / selection committee going on

That is a shame that some coins don't kick out to charity based on sales minimums.

As for the Girl Scout Coin, I don't own one, but do have a dumb story involving one.

It was before the coin came out. I was walking into the neighborhood grocery / pharmacy store.

An elderly lady is parked right up front and trying to unload a table and chairs. Being a man and seeing a woman in need was part of it, but also not wanting to wait for her to get through the door, I offered to help her with her items.

So I take the table for her and head into the store lobby where she is setting up. As I get to the door a very attractive daughter of hers comes walking out along with her daughter, the girl scout.

She asks me who I am and how I know her mother, I reply I don't know her, just helping out where I could. She smiled.

I decided I would help unload the entire car.

Helped set up the table.

She tried to sell me some cookies, I explained that I don't eat that type of food generally but I would be interested in the Girl Scout coin. They had no idea such a thing was coming out soon.

I wasn't single at the time so nothing happened, but I like to think it could have.

Let's just say that chivalry evolved for a reason gentleman. You never know when just being nice, or in a hurry and still being nice, can pay off, or not really, but she did look great.

In hindsight, the coin conversation could have been dropped and my game would have been stronger for those out there trying to learn. I wasn't trying anything though so the conversation drifted towards what I am interested in and not what she wants to hear.

Is it just me or are the only 50 page scrolling threads (besides the CRH ones) all commemorative related or special mint issues?

Baseball Hall of Fame.

MOD 3 coin set.

2013 West point ASE set.

2012 San Francisco ASE.
