I hope so because I paid well for it:

1899-O-Morgan.-Bad-Pix...-Nice-Coin!

1899-O-Morgan.-Bad-Pix...-Nice-Coin!

Of course I may be high on "hopium" but it "looks" like it has really nice fields. I'm hoping for a 64 anyway.

I don't like the angle these pictures were taken at, generally sellers will use images like this to hide flaws.

It looks like there are quite a few bag marks on the cheek, and in the fields.

Based on these images, I would say MS-63.

1899-O Morgans graded by PCGS and NGC have been selling for $60 to $75 on average recently.

64 would be tops if it looks as good in hand as the seller's photos suggest. The reverse fields look outstanding but that hit on the cheek and on the eagle's chest limit it in my opinion. Unfortunately both are in the worst possible position. Keep us posted.

Hopefully this little 96 I also bought this eve will offset me a buck or two on the 99... it was $29 and free shipping.

When the 99 arrives I've got a return prv. if I choose to use it, so no worrys.

Do that. You paid almost top-of-market for MS65 for it, and in today's grading atmosphere a TPG isn't going to put it into a 65 slab (even though with better pics I could see an argument for that grade). As mentioned, the marks are few but all are in critical places for grading Morgans.

The 1896, though, I wouldn't be too unhappy about.

Takeaway: Don't bid coins into excessive price ranges until you're comfortable not only grading but valuing what you're buying. Was it your feel that the coin warranted 65?

Hey Dave thanks for the response.
I researched the coin and mistook/misunderstood it for a "micro o" so my bad. but I'll have a look anyway. Like I said, it's returnable at my expense which is just part of coin collecting and rightfully so.

I can't fault your attitude.

But as a seller, my greatest frustration are buyers who don't do their due diligence. I don't have many returns - never, actually - but that's because I depict my coins with brutal honesty. When you have less to work with, the onus is upon you to be as sure as you possibly can before pulling the trigger. This one's a lesson that will leave you a lot better equipped for the future, and I can't say much because mistakes are my learning mode of choice as well.

I agree with the Daves on the 99o however I would like some "hopium". It would go great with my "unobtainium" collection

Update:

I'm returning the coin... the 99. Pix again do me wrong! It won't make a 63 much less a better grade. My bad... I put a $5 bill in the return package to help w/ original postage for the seller. In that vein the seller was quite accommodating.
That said, yes! the 96 P is a beautiful coin! and for a whopping $29 bux. It's an easy 62, and toned!

I'm feeling a 63 on the 1896. Beautiful coin for a little over spot. My LCS usually sells junk morgans for $22 and semi-decent morgan's/peace for $25.
