I'm trying to decide to put either this one or the 1896 into my type set. I think this one is nicer but the other has far fewer in the mintage department. Votes are welcome.

That is a beauty! Being a Type collector, I would keep the better of the two and sell the other for MORE COINS! I thought that something was missing from the reverse "in God We Trust"...but it was never on the Liberty quarter eagles. It's on the half and full eagles but not the quarter. It's always something!

That one has all the earmarks of a 64. It really depends on the luster and these pics make it hard to tell. With booming original full mint luster that coin could go MS65. With subdued luster it might be a MS63. Either way it's a great coin.

I am thinking it could possibly grade MS-65. What a great coin!

I sent this in today for PCGS grading today. With luck, it will be back in 30 days and I'll post the results. Many thanks to all and if you haven't got your vote in, there's still plenty of time to put in your opinion. Marty

Nice frosty MS-65. I think the 1896 you have is a little nicer.

I originally thought this one was the better of the two but the dealer noted the copper spot to the right of the date. I hadn't noticed that before and that to me is the biggest mark holding this one back. I hope your right on with the grade.

A couple marks on the chin is what I saw.

Well it's back from PCGS. I'll get the coins back tomorrow and post new pictures and the grade this weekend.
Thanks for your patience. Marty

I'm thinking the chin marks may be the kicker on the grade I'll go MS64.

I was actually dis-appointed with this one. I was expecting this to go MS65 or MS66. Thanks for all the feedback. Marty
