Boy was it hard to pic this one. Especially without bleaching out the bands... My question, do you think it meets 66/67 w/ full splits?... also, how common are clashed mercs? Thanks guys

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be FSB. The middle bands have no apparent separation. Not very good at grading these, or any high MS coins, so I will let the others do the grading.

I have it at a 65/66 range, but unfortunately I don't see the FSB either.
Rest in Peace

That one hit on the cheek limits it to 64 for me and certainly not FSB. I'm not sure how common clashed Mercs are but this one is a bit subdued compared to some examples I've seen. I think when you get good transfer of the leaves in front of the bust is when the interest really kicks in.

I think it might hit 66. This is my 44 and it's NGC graded 66. Good chance to do a stare and compare..

Thanks sr77, nice comparison. I think this one may going in the TPG pile just to see what it gets. I'm not that experienced at all with this series specifically.

Can you guys tell me why no full split? I see all the lines straight as can be aside from just under the lower ribbon at the left but isn't that just an olive leaf?.. It's the bottom 2 pics to look at, the above pic bleached out the lines

I'd be at MS-64 on this one.

Well geez, thanks 16d! I thought it referred to the vertical lines. I guess you can see my ignorance with this series

I see no clash at all. I see ghosting, a form of Die Deterioration.

I think Cascade's coin, with the cheek hits and reverse chatter, might not be better than a 63. Nice flash, though.
Rest in Peace

As soon as I looked at the first photo I cringed at that nasty hit on lower cheek. the reverse was disappointing when I saw the center bands flat and smooth while the top and bottom bands were split. Will give it MS-65.

I would not send it in for grading, at best I would only give a MS-63 on a good day.
