and I was very glad to receive it, and in a record time for mail shipments from the U.S. , less than 1 week (up to 4 weeks is the norm). I am slowly starting to expand my copper collection beyond the 1793-1808 issues and find the Matron Heads minted between 1816 and 1839 quite attractive. This 1826 fits the bill perfectly. I was not looking for an encapsulated coin, but this one happened to be in one. It is one of the scarcer varieties for the year, N-3, R-3 if I got the attribution correct. Colour and surfaces are uniform and pleasing, with the toning fully original, if a tad uneven on parts of the obverse. Overall a nice coin in a better grade. Opinions welcome and very much appreciated on attribution and grade. Thanks! Edited by GERMANICVS 09/17/2015 2:40 pm

I agree with N-3. Looks no worse than VF35, and possibly EF40. Some of the stars are in great shape. I like the middle dates too. Nice coin.

Thank you all for your comments and opinions.
I agree with you assessment, VF35 to EF40 is about right. NGC graded it EF45 but that is not EAC grade. The coin could maybe benefit from an acetone bath, but it is not a must. I will break it open eventually anyway.
I am aiming for a date set of the matron heads, certainly not a variety set. This is a nice representative for the year 1826. Thank again.

XF-40, although I'm not too surprised at XF-45. Fantastic coin!
