Post mint damage... looks to be solder, I have a wheat head from the 40's with one entire side covered.

Definately a keeper....more valuable to your personal collection, as I have several "keepers" that I would not part with because they are just cool. As per above, keep reading and you will learn a lot....ask questions and you will learn even more...Welcome and have fun!
