It does for me, minimal wear on high points, details are clear. Strike is a bit weak.

I give it AU-, the minus just for appearance.

Very circulated or very rubbed with the hands. The denticles are weak. Aguila side has been slammed on a table. Worn and circulated, not even close, sorry.

I think that the deceiving part of this coin is that the background (the "field") is clean and without nicks. But there are dings on the edges as well (at 3 o'clock on both flat sides). I'd be reluctant to give this piece a Fine grade, if that.

Really? That seems to be a total misapprehension of how circulated grades are assigned, which is based upon an assessment of how much wear has been incurred. The weakness of the strike on the periphery notwithstanding, there is nowhere near the degree of wear that'd merit this coin being graded F. If you were opining that the high point flattening on the eagle side and or edge deformities constitute damage that'd earn it a "details" annotation or knock it down into the XF range, well, those would be reasonable assertions open to debate.

I would put it as an XF... Too much wear on all high points for much higher than that, perhaps XF45 on a real good day...

Certainly not even close to fine though...

I'm a bit hard on my grading. Lucky: I see your posts and I value your opinion. One thing your coin has going for it is the linear detail on the "C" in centavo and also the aguila's wing feathers. Lots of worn coins don't have this. I don't grade things with "details"; let the almighty TPGs deal with that nonsense. :)

AU - About Uncirculated. Table damage means it has been circulated. Maybe you could get a VF out of me but AU not a chance.

:) Sorry, my current occupation forces me to see crazy details that most people ignore.

I would call it EF details. The abrasions on the snake, eagle's leg, and talon are severe. And there is certainly some wear on the leaves and other elements on the reverse. I cannot see any clear evidence of luster or otherwise undisturbed surfaces. However, the vast majority of the detail is still present. This is based on US grading.

I wonder if the difference in grading opinions in this case is simply a matter of what scales/methods are being employed. I'm not as familiar with UK or Canadian grading, but know that they use similar terminology with different meaning.
