What is this. I know its a quarter, but what makes it special. I find a decent amount of canadian quarters at the coin counters reject slots so maybe I have one.

Carloscoria ...they were only issued in mint sets, not for circulation.

in 1992 the mint decided to do a tribute to all of the Canadian Provinces, and territories (the predecessor to the USA State Quarter) they minted 13 different quarters at about 12 million each.

as mentioned the Caribou was only released in mint NIFC sets so they are rare.

This is actually the second one I have found roll hunting, so people have faith that you will find treasures when searching.

I found a Caribou the other day. Just threw it in my Canadian Coin Jar. I will have to look at it. What should I be looking for? The date? Also I thought most quarters had the Caribou.

yes, the 1992 Caribou, along with the 1997,1998,1999 and 2000(P and W) Caribou quarters are all rare NIFC

The 1991 is more sought after being low mintage, but actually minted for circulation with about 450,000
