Make and take some era specific bank notes.

Keep your eyes open in the major auctions. The 1858 indians are a fairly common pattern and they come on the market relatively frequently.

As for what you would use to pay for them if you could go back in time, just take some gold along with you. (For 1944 silver might be better, fewer questions.)

Say what?

Fortunately mine is populated with low value targets.

Just for comparison sake, $1 invested in the Dow Jones Industrial Average in 1944 would be worth $1,432 today.

Wouldn't you need to bring old coins to buy them with? That alone would be kind of expensive! Otherwise you would chance disturbing the whole time-space continuum.

Just bring a 1903-O Morgan and you could trade it for bags of S-VDB cents.

I thought it was funny that it states these prices are for MS only and if worn at all, worth only a Cent.

-->According to the 1944 book, the value of the 1903-O Morgan is from $1 to $5....

The best silver dollar to bring, according to the book wold be the 1870-s valued at $100 to $225, or the 1873-S, which is also worth the same back then(in mint condition)

The 1794 Head, flowing hair is only worth a measly $25 to $100 according to the book, while the 1894-S dime carries a value of $100 to $300
The 1876-CC 25 cent piece is valued at $25 to $100...

So many decisions to make before getting in the time machine

Morgans weren't a popular collectible in 1944. Now in 1960 you could get $1500 for a MS 1903 O dollar, which would buy a half dozen or more MS 09 SVDB's.
